  I would NOT recommend this tour operator, STM Tours and East Gate Tours. Terrible communication - Here are some things that weren't communicated to us: changes from the Tour Radar itinerary that we purchased compared to what we actually got, that some of the attractions were closed, what time to get picked up for your tour, the name of the boat company we were supposed to go on, that we had a private tour versus a shared tour, which geoforest tour we purchased (out of three options). We were on a text thread with 10 people and when we asked a question that needed a timely response we got no response for over four hours. It's not even clear in the Tour Radar description if this is a guided tour (it is not). This company doesn't know its product. All of the phone numbers we had contact with were based in Germany and the Philippines. None were based in Malaysia, which is where we had our tour. They also use AI to facilitate their English language communication. All their responses had been through some English AI filter. We had a issue about a tour we were currently on and the response was "I guess you can add that tour on your own," not even realizing we were already on that tour! They definitely seemed like they didn't know what was going on in Langkawi. They didn't even confirm to their own drivers that they hired what time we needed to be picked up and which tour we were going on. Luckily our driver was local and independently knowledgeable and could figure it out on his own from previous experience. He was very kind and helped us out a lot. Langkawi is a beautiful island with lots to explore and lovely people. It's not a large island, and getting around is pretty straight forward. You can get the same experience offered in this tour by booking a hotel online, booking the "Island Hopping" and Geoforest Tour online, exploring own your own, and using the Grab ride-sharing app to get around. Don't bother with this company. You'll save yourself lots of stress and have a more enjoyable time.Show more

  Communication with Tour Radar is very poor. Grateful for the local drivers who are VERY helpful and informative! 1. We had a private boat tour scheduled and our driver asked if we had a voucher for check in. We (and the driver) messaged Tour Radar to pls send a copy but no response for hours. Meanwhile, the boat tour operator had our names but put us on a shared boat that departed 1hr later than scheduled. Mid boat tour, the boat driver gets a call stating that we are on the wrong boat and another empty boat pulls up. We then proceed to hop boats in the middle of the ocean with a driver who barely spoke english and was not a guide. He simply took us to the 2 remaining spots on our "private tour". Had we been given the voucher, we would have been placed on the correct boat and not caused an inconvenience to the rest of the group. 2. A few of the activities got cancelled due to maintenance closure, yet we were only notified of this the day before. We were left scrambling for things to do and coordinating with the driver ended up being more stressful than anything. By day 3 of 5, we decided to forfit any further use of Tour Radar and coordinated our own transportation. Tour Radar reached out apologizing, offering use of the driver that we paid for, and sent the driver to wait outside of the hotel despite our notification the night before to cancel. Also, all communication by this tour company is done by AI. They know nothing of Langkawi, probably have never been, know anything about the culture or the people. And it shows! Do yourself a favor and dodge this company. Langkawi is easy to navigate and local transport is amazing! Theres no need for a tour company to coordinate!Show more

However, as soon as we were made aware, we coordinated with the boat operator to immediately rectify it, transfer you to your correct private boat, and ensure your private itinerary was completed. Remaining Days & Itinerary: The last days of your itinerary were designed as a fully guided tour covering most of Langkawi’s top attractions. While our team and driver were fully prepared to provide these services as scheduled, you chose to decline and forfeit the remaining portion of the tour. We always strive to deliver smooth experiences and deeply appreciate our local drivers for their hard work.
