My wife and I have been on several dozen tours, and this one has to rank as the worst. The tour is promoted as being in all four-star hotels. One of the hotels, the Baia Di Ulisse in Agrigento, is a true four-star. The others are two or three-star at best. Except for the Baia, the tour company selected hotels where the bus could not unload on the hotel property. Tour-group members had to haul their own bags from the bus to the hotel, up to the rooms, and back in every hotel we stayed in on the trip. This was a first for us. Globus, Gate One, and every other tour company we have dealt with takes the bags up to your room and picks them up in the morning. The bus dropped us off several hundred meters from the hotel in Ragusa, and my wife and I are in our seventies. That wasn't a fun walk. The hotels in Palermo and Catania both had mold in the showers. At the Il Princess hotel in Catania, the air conditioning didn’t work in the room. When I went to the front desk to tell them, the girl at the desk told me it was Italian law that hotel AC couldn’t be turned on until mid-May. I googled the law and read it. She lied. The Italian law states that AC in public areas must be turned off through mid-May. It specifically excludes hotel rooms from this requirement. She said she couldn’t do anything about it until I said I would call the tour company. She then called her manager who told her to move us to an empty room that had AC. The AC worked in the new room but there were holes in the sheets. Too tired to complain again, I gave up. I booked the tour through TourRadar. I had previously booked another tour through them that I had to cancel due to an injury. To their credit, they gave me a full credit towards future travel and honored it three years later when I was able to travel again. The tour was run on the ground by a company called Sicilian Secrets. I would avoid them unless you are fond of overrated hotels and dragging your own luggage hundreds of meters.Show more
