Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Muscat
You'll fly from your chosen German airport to Muscat. Once you land, your representative meets you at arrivals and drives you to your hotel for the night.
- Day 2
Muscat City Tour
After breakfast, an English-speaking driver guide picks you up for a half-day city tour. You'll see the Grand Mosque, the government district, and Muttrah Market with its traditional Arabic souks, plus photo stops at the Sultan's Palace and the Portuguese Forts Jelali and Mirani. Later in the afternoon, a local representative goes over your upcoming 4x4 tour and gives you a road map. Your Nissan Pathfinder or similar arrives at the hotel in the evening.

Western Hajar Mountains to Jebel Shams
You'll drive toward the western Hajar Mountains and stop at the impressive Nakhl Fortress, then check out the nearby Ain Thowarah oasis with its warm springs. From there, you'll pass through the mud village of Al Hamra before reaching Jebel Shams, the 'Mountain of the Sun' at over 3000 meters and Oman's highest peak. Settle into your mountain resort for dinner and overnight.

- Day 4
Jebel Shams to Nizwa
This morning offers a chance for a short hike in Wadi Ghul if you want it. After that, you'll continue toward Nizwa with a photo stop at the Bahla mud fortress, then see Jabrin and its beautiful former Imam's residence palace. By afternoon, you'll explore Nizwa on your own and check out Oman's old capital with its Sultan Qaboos Mosque dome, the fortress defensive tower, and vibrant market activity. You'll stay at your Nizwa hotel for the night.

Wahiba Sands Desert Camp
After breakfast, drive via Birkat Al Mouz and Ibra to Mintrib at the edge of Wahiba Sands. You'll deflate your jeep tires and self-drive through the yellow-red sand dunes to your desert camp. If desert driving isn't your thing, an experienced driver can be arranged for an additional charge. Have dinner and spend the night in simple traditional huts.

- Day 6
Wahiba Sands to Turtle Beach Resort
You'll wake up to an unforgettable desert sunrise after breakfast, then drive back toward Mintrib and on to Oman's northern oasis. Park your vehicle and walk through the oasis with its many palms and natural pools for swimming. Later, head toward Ras Al Hadd where you'll stay at Turtle Beach Resort. Swim in the Indian Ocean and visit the turtle beach to see rare sea turtles in their natural habitat.

Sur to Muscat
You'll drive to Sur, a fishing town famous for building traditional wooden Dhow boats, then continue toward Muscat with a stop at the beautiful Wadi Shab oasis featuring green gardens and small waterfalls. See the limestone 'Sinkhole' cave whose roof collapsed long ago, and stop at Fins to check out the beautiful 'White Beach'. Return your rental vehicle to the hotel in the evening and stay overnight in Muscat.
