Where do we fly into and what cities in the US are the best to fly out of. When we arrive will there be someone to pick us up at the airport and at end of trip return us to airport. (Transfers)?

The start/end airport will be Ulaanbaatar (UNB). Major airports like LAX, DFW, ORD may have the most options out to Mongolia. This tour does not include airport transfers but you can pre-book them through us for $30 per person, per one-way.

How can I proceed if United cancelled my flight and I want to postpone my trip?

You are ok to arrive on 10th July as this is the start date of the trip. If you could please let us know the updated flight details and we can let our local team know. Unfortunately at this late stage, we would be unable to offer a refund if you decided to cancel, and you would need to make a claim on your travel insurance.

I'm 66 yrs old and do like to travel this kind of adventure. My question is how strenuous is this tour? Am I obligue to bring my stuff in a back pack and not suitcase? I rather use a suitcase since I had surgery on my upper back. Also are there too many long hikes? I'm interested to join this tour in Aug or Sept.

We have rated Nomadic Mongolia the following - Physical Rating: 3 - Average. Some tours may include light hiking, biking, rafting, or kayaking in addition to walking. The itinerary should detail any hikes if you read through this, I noted that Day 6 mentions the option to do a small hike in the Gobi Desert. You may bring a suitcase instead of a backpack, this is fine.

I was wondering if it was possible to not include the two days in Ulaanbaatar for my itinerary cause I'd be more interested in exploring it by myself. Also I love how your program is very focused on nomad life, but is the gobi desert present too?

Our tours come as a package, we are unable to amend or remove any included city, service, etc.. If you wish to join the tour late, on day or 3, that is not a problem, however, no refund for unused services. On day 1 and day 2, mostly it's free time in the city, so you still have the time on your own. Gobi desert is included as part of the trip.

The trip itself was very well organized with a fantastic guide (thank you Gan-Erdene) and really competent great drivers. The accommodation in Gers was great - in many places as it started to get cold - they would come and light the stove at night and again early in the morning - super cozy! The only advice I would give is to bring a sleeping bag for the stay with the Nomad family (if you have room in your bag and especially as the weather gets colder) along with a good coat and rain coat. But in every single way this was a trip of a lifetime.Show more

Our drivers Tirinbaatar and Tsirindowg were excellent drivers who faultlessly negotiated sometimes difficult roads, and gave us a comfortable ride. They were lovely friendly helpful guys. The itinerary had a great variety of scenery, activities and interactions with beautiful Mongolean people. Food and accommodation exceeded expectations every day. Excellent trip around the Gobi desert and middle portions of Mongolia. Our CEO was fabulous - very knowledgeable, passionate, and personable. Beautiful countryside with long days in the vans. Loved staying in the ger camps - each one was unique and different! The nomadic homestay / camping was a highlight. Lots of nature in the Gobi desert - from dunes to flaming cliffs... and interesting history with Buddhist temples and Soviet purges. Not an "easy" trip - but certainly worth it! Things to pack: a light weight sleep sheet (the ger camps have heavy comforters and no top sheet, which can be hot at night in the desert.); eye mask and ear plugs - the sun rises early and the gers are open on top; saline spray for very dry air (or wet a towel to dry out while you're sleeping); an umbrella for the ladies to duck behind while peeing in the fields; audiobooks for the 5-7 hours a day in the van; an extra battery pack for charging - no electricity in the homestay and several ger camps had limited electricity for only specific hours. Don't let this scare you - it's a wonderful trip and country!Show more

  Do we get a chance to have the highlights? It says …… provincial or rural mini-Naadams later in July or August offers a more intimate, less crowded cultural experience.

  With the Nomadic Mongolia tour, the main Naadam Festival in Ulaanbaatar is not included as part of the scheduled itinerary.
  
  The reference to provincial or rural “mini-Naadams” means that, if one is taking place during your trip in July or August, you may have the opportunity to experience a smaller, more local celebration. However, these events are seasonal and cannot be guaranteed in advance.
  
  If experiencing the traditional Naadam highlights of wrestling, archery and horse racing is important to you, we do have a dedicated Mongolia tour that is timed around the Naadam Festival.
