- Day 1
Hanoi
Your driver and German-speaking guide will greet you at Hanoi airport, then drive you to your hotel in the city center (about 35 km, 35 minutes). The ride gives you a first look at Hanoi's narrow houses, colonial buildings, and busy streets. Check-in starts at 14:00, so you'll have the afternoon and evening free. You can relax with a massage back at your hotel or wander through the Old Quarter's tight streets on your own if you're not too tired from traveling.

Hanoi
A full city tour runs most of the day, starting around 08:00 and wrapping up by 17:00. You'll see the Ho Chi Minh Complex with the mausoleum, Presidential Palace, the historic Stilt House, and One Pillar Pagoda. From there, head to the Temple of Literature, which was Vietnam's first university, then walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and check out Ngoc Son Temple. A rickshaw ride through the Old Quarter lets you get a feel for how locals live. The day ends with a Water Puppet Theatre performance. If you want, grab egg coffee at Pho Co Cafe with views over the lake for about 3-4 euros per person (you pay separately).

Halong Bay
This morning you'll transfer to the port and board a junk for Halong Bay, known as the 'Bay of the Descending Dragon' with nearly 2,000 islands and limestone cliffs. Your private cabin has an en-suite bathroom for the two of you. As you sail through this UNESCO World Heritage site, the day includes seafood lunch and dinner on board. Watch the sunset from the deck, then spend the night on the junk while it stays anchored in the bay.

Halong Bay to Hue
Morning continues on the junk with breakfast served on board. You'll cruise through Halong Bay's island landscape until around midday, then head back and disembark. After that, a transfer takes you to Hanoi airport for an afternoon flight down to Hue in central Vietnam. Your German-speaking guide meets you when you land and drives you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to settle in and relax.

- Day 5
Hue
The full day covers Hue's main sights from around 08:00 to 17:00. You'll take a boat trip on the Huong River (Perfume River) to reach Thien Mu Pagoda, Vietnam's tallest pagoda, which has an impressive Phuoc Duyen Tower. After that, explore the Imperial Palace and walk through the imperial city. Trang Tien Bridge and Dong Ba Market give you a sense of Vietnamese culture and local trade. In the afternoon, you'll tour some of Hue's royal tombs and historic garden houses before heading back to the hotel by 17:00. The evening is free.

Hue to Hoi An
Travel from Hue to Hoi An covers about 150 km and takes roughly 3.5 hours with breaks included. You'll cross the Cloud Pass, which sits 496 meters high and marks where the weather changes from subtropical to tropical. Along the way, you see the kilometer-long Lang Co beach and pass by the Marble Mountains. In Danang, there's time to hike up Marble Mountain, a group of five limestone and marble hills with caves, tunnels, and temples inside. Reach the top for views across Danang city. From there, continue to Hoi An, a riverside town that was a major trading port from the 16th to 18th centuries and now draws visitors for its mix of architecture, tailor shops, and cafes. You'll check in to your hotel, and the rest of the day is free.

Hoi An
A full morning exploring Hoi An on foot runs from around 08:30 to 15:00. Walk the Old Quarter's narrow streets, visit Chua Ong or Phuc Kien Pagoda, pop into the Assembly Hall, see the 200-year-old Tam Ky House, and cross the covered Japanese Bridge. A cultural show with traditional music and dance fills part of the morning. The Precious Heritage Museum features portraits and heirlooms from Rehahn's collection. After lunch, a bike tour takes you to Tra Que village where you can walk through vegetable gardens, watch farmers work, get a foot bath and massage, and prepare your own lunch (a van is available if biking doesn't work for you). Back at the hotel, you'll have free time to explore Hoi An more on your own.

The morning is yours to explore Hoi An at your own pace, or you can join optional tours that connect you with locals. Later on, you'll transfer to Danang airport for an afternoon flight to Saigon. Your German-speaking guide meets you at the airport and drives you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to rest or look around.

Saigon
A Saigon city tour fills the day from about 08:30 to 15:00. You'll see Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, a Romanesque cathedral built between 1863 and 1880 by French colonists. Next is the Saigon Post Office, constructed from 1886 to 1891 following Gustave Eiffel's design, and it's still one of Vietnam's busiest post offices with its elegant European look. Tour the Reunification Palace, which was formerly called the Independence Palace and survived two major wars; inside you'll see paintings, weapons, and artifacts stored in the basement. Ngoc Hoang Pagoda, built in 1909, honors the supreme Taoist god and holds statues of various deities and heroes. An authentic Vietnamese market rounds out the tour, selling seafood, vegetables, daily tools, and clothing at reasonable prices. Your guide gets you back to the hotel by afternoon. Dinner and the rest of the day are yours.

Saigon to Mekong Delta
A full day Mekong Delta tour runs from about 08:00 to 16:30. You'll travel to Ben Tre, a coastal province roughly 90 km away (2 hours by car). The Mekong Delta is known as Vietnam's 'breadbasket' because rice is grown here for the whole country, and as the 'coconut island' for all its fruit plantations and coconut groves. Your boat trip on the Mekong River includes a stop at a small farm where you can taste local fruit and tea. Later, a rickshaw ride takes you to a restaurant for lunch. Then you'll continue by small boat through narrow waterways back toward Ben Tre before transferring to Saigon.
