Is it better to stay in Paro the first night after arriving after 18 hours of flying instead of driving 2 hours to Thimphu?

I want to take my 75 year old father with my husband and I on a trip to Bhutan as a bucket list trip for my dad. I am concerned about him not being able to handle the hiking at elevation but I want him to be able to see some of these sites. Is there options for other transport or is hiking the only way to get to some of these places?

The preparation and planning of the tour was very clear and detailed, with a very helpful team to support us. Our guide Pema and our driver Sonam were the best duo for this wonderful tour! We discovered all the wonderful treasures of this beautiful country and well preserved culture thanks to them! They made this experience memorable. Always attending to our needs, being able to see six districts in a very carefree manner with such a great driver, and gaining so much wisdom with Pema as our guide.
