I particularly enjoyed the small-group atmosphere, as it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other better and meant that everyone was able to help and look out for one another throughout the trip. Kevin and Celine were great tour guides. They were friendly, helpful and always willing to assist with anything we needed, which made travelling between the different destinations much easier. The accommodation throughout the tour was good, and I particularly enjoyed the breakfasts in Beijing and Xi’an. There were many memorable experiences. The Great Wall was amazing and definitely one of the highlights of the trip. I also loved the rickshaw ride and especially enjoyed being able to make my own Terracotta Warrior in Xi’an and take it home as a souvenir. It was a fun and unique experience that made the visit even more memorable. There are a few things I would change. I found the afternoon visit to the Shanghai Museum quite boring and would have preferred the option of returning to the hotel and having some free time instead. For the Shanghai river cruise, I think the tour price should include the additional 100 yuan required to sit on a chair on the top deck, as this is the best place to enjoy the views. At the Great Wall, I would have preferred taking the ski lift rather than the cable car, as this would have reduced the amount of walking required and added another enjoyable experience to the day. I also would have preferred to see a traditional lion dance rather than the acrobat show. A lion dance would have felt like a more culturally distinctive experience and something I would have really enjoyed seeing while visiting China.Show more

  What a surprise. Very organized and informed. Our guide in Xi’an was Rita and she really cared for us and made sure we were well informed, safe and had wonderful, plentiful meals. When it rained, she went and bought rain ponchos and umbrellas! What a gem. Xi’an was more than just the Terracotta Warriors: there beautiful parks, the city wall, the street food area and on. We got a good feel of this ancient city. Beijing was great. A cosmopolitan city full of unique foods and beautiful buildings and shops. The Great Wall experience was fantastic and our guide Kevin gave us a history lesson by the numbers! Shanghai was a marvel; with the new buildings in Pudong, the Pearl, and the Bund. The organized river cruise let us see all the sights. Our guide was informative and helped us find the best markets. Overall a great tourShow more
