  Fantastic trip, this section of the Via Transilvanica is truly a lost world set beck in time. Via Transilvanica guide was true to reality regarding timing and distance and also the terrain through sheep folds and forestry. Accommodation was stunning with the exception of one night, lets say it was the true Romanian homestay. I would highly recommend this trip.Show more

  We had an excellent time on this wonderful cultural tour of Romania. The trip was varied, very well organized, and offered us many fascinating insights into the country’s history, culture, and beauty. Our guide, Alex, impressed us with his outstanding knowledge of history, which he conveyed in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. He was also a very pleasant driver—calm and always cautious on the road—so we felt safe and well taken care of at all times. We can wholeheartedly recommend this trip with Alex to anyone who wants to discover Romania in a personal, informative, and relaxed way.Show more

  The Romanian portion of the tour was very good, except the fact we did not get to go into Peles Castle as it was closed on the day we were there. Daniel was an excellent driver and a very knowledgeable tour guide. He added so much to our trip and we feel like we really came away with a great knowledge of Romania & Transylvania. The Bulgarian portion of the trip seems like it was not well planed out in advance as there was not a Bulgarian driver/guide for us. So this portion of the trip was not as culturally rich as the Romanian portion. There was no local guide to meet us in Ruse and no guide at the Ivanovo Rock Churches. The local guide in Veliko-Taverno was very kind but extremely hard to understand. The local guides in Plovdiv & Sophia for walking tours were very good. There was no local guide at the Rila Monestery. For Bulgaria, we had a very skillful and kind Romanian driver, Alex. It was his first trip ever into Bulgaria & he did not speak the language or have any knowledge of the country & its history. But he was very personable and we enjoyed his company on the many hours of driving through the mountains and the countryside and at meals. He was very nice to us and we appreciated his efforts immensely.Show more
