  1. Day 1

    Edinburgh

    You'll arrive in Edinburgh and head straight to the Royal Mile, where the cobblestone streets wind through the heart of the old town. There's plenty to see as you walk around the historic architecture and local shops. After that, make your way up to Edinburgh Castle, which sits on an extinct volcanic rock and offers views across the city. By evening, there's an optional whisky tasting with your group if you want to meet your travel companions and settle in for the week.

    Today you have the freedom to explore Edinburgh however you like. Walk through the historic areas, check out tartan shops along Princes Street, or try some Scottish whisky. An optional guided tour of Edinburgh Castle is available if you'd prefer structured exploration of the castle sitting on an extinct volcano.

Back in Glasgow by evening, check out the gothic cathedral, live music venues, and the city's quirky character. An optional traditional Scottish dinner with live music rounds out your final night.

    The tour was good I wished we had more time to see Manchester and Londonderry. The itinerary was good but didn’t like the ghost tour extra a lot of people didn’t enjoy the person giving it. The guy giving the ghost tour was not the regular person contiki uses though.

    The trip crams all the best sights and scenes of Great Britain and Ireland into 18 days with highlights being exploring the streets of Edinburgh and partying the night away in Dublin and Belfast. Jacob gave the trip a special flair with his witty humour, comprehensive knowledge of the history of the areas we travelled to as well as his overall enthusiasm for travel. He made a special effort to connect with each of the travellers individually to ensure their experience was positive. Having an enthusiastic, smiling ball of energy at the front of the coach each morning made the experience that much more enjoyable.
