    You'll arrive at Shanghai airport where your driver meets you and takes you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to settle in and get a feel for the city on your own.

    Shanghai

    Your private guided tour starts at Yuyuan Garden and Shanghai Old Street. If you're interested, there's an optional traditional tea ceremony. After that, you'll head to the French Concession to see the European-style buildings, then move on to the Bund waterfront. The tour wraps up with a look at Lujiazui Financial District and its modern skyscrapers.

    You'll visit the Jade Buddha Temple, a 19th-century Qing Dynasty structure with two elegant jade Buddha statues. Your guide will share the fascinating history of how it was built. Then you're heading out to Zhujiajiao Water Town on Shanghai's edge where you can wander through or take an optional canal boat ride. You'll see stone bridges and traditional buildings before heading back to your hotel.

    Shanghai to Suzhou

    Your guide meets you at the hotel, and you'll travel to Suzhou. Start at Tiger Hill, also called Surging Sea Hill, where the octagonal Tiger Hill Pagoda sits (it's over 1,000 years old). Next is Lingering Garden, Suzhou's most famous ancient garden and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later, you'll visit an almost 100-year-old silk factory to watch workers reel, weave, and make silk quilts before returning to your hotel.

    Suzhou to Hangzhou to Shanghai

    Your driver takes you to the train station this morning for the bullet train to Hangzhou (about one hour). You'll explore the Faxi Temples with over 1,000 years of history and see tea plantation scenery. In Longjing tea village, you'll learn how tea gets processed, then take a boat cruise along West Lake to see ten important sites. After that, you'll catch the bullet train back to Shanghai.

    You have the morning free. Your driver picks you up from your hotel and takes you to the airport. After the flight to Beijing, your driver greets you and takes you to check in at your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore on your own.

  7. Day 7

    Beijing

    You'll head to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, take the cable car to the top, and enjoy the views. After that, you're going to the Temple of Heaven where Ming and Qing emperors once worshipped. Your guide will explain the historical importance before you're driven back to your hotel.

    Beijing

    This morning starts with a short stroll through Tiananmen Square. Then you'll continue to the Forbidden City, which has 9,999 rooms spread across 72 hectares and is surrounded by a six-meter-deep moat and ten-meter-high walls. Your professional guide will share stories about ancient emperors and their lives. On the way to the Summer Palace, you'll pass the Bird's Nest. The Summer Palace itself is China's best-preserved imperial garden with beautiful landscape and spectacular architecture.

    Beijing to Xi'an

    You'll ride a rickshaw through Beijing's hutongs, the narrow streets with old houses on both sides. Then you're heading to the train station to board a train to Xi'an. Your tour guide meets you when you arrive in Xi'an. The first stop is the Muslim Quarter where you'll see unique shops selling snacks and souvenirs. There's an optional visit to Gao's Courtyard for Chinese folk art if you're interested.

    Xi'an

    You'll see the famous Terracotta Warriors, more than 8,000 painted, life-size warrior and horse statues lined up in battle formations guarding Emperor Qin Shi Huang's tomb. After that, you'll explore Xi'an's 14-kilometer-long City Wall on foot or rent a bike to ride along it. This wall is the best-preserved ancient military defense system in the world. In the evening, there's an optional Tang Dynasty performance if you want to catch it.

    Xi'an to Chongqing

    You'll check out the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an's landmark. Then you're visiting the Archaeological Museum of Hanyangling Mausoleum, also called Jingdi's Tomb, where Emperor Jingdi and his wife are buried. This is China's only underground museum. Later, you'll head to the airport to fly to Chongqing, where your driver takes you to your hotel for a free night.

    Chongqing

    Your guide picks you up at your hotel lobby. You'll take the Yangtze River cable car and enjoy the scenery of the area. There's a chance to ride on China's longest escalator. You'll visit Hongya Cave and have hot pot for lunch. In the evening, you'll board a cruise on the Yangtze and enjoy a buffet dinner between 18:30 and 20:00. The evening includes tai chi exercise and the captain's welcome party.

    Yichang to Shanghai

    You'll enjoy your final breakfast on the cruise before disembarking at Maoping pier of Yichang. The shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam Project Site is available (golf car fee of CNY10 per person is separate). Luggage handling service is included. The trip wraps up at downtown Yichang for your onward journey. You'll return to the airport or railway station for your flight or bullet train back to Shanghai. If you're staying overnight in Shanghai, you'll need to arrange accommodation separately, and your driver will meet you at the airport.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 11th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 11th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Shanghai Advisor Tour. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
