Paramaribo
You'll arrive at J.A. Pengel International Airport and head to the Torarica Hotel & Casino, which sits right on the banks of the Suriname River. Depending on when you get in, there's time to walk along the riverside promenade, watch the fishing boats go by, or just hang out by the pool if you're tired from traveling.

Paramaribo to Upper Suriname River
This morning you'll travel 190 km through the countryside to Atjoni port, then board a motorized canoe for the ride upriver. The Upper Suriname River has some exciting rapids, and you'll be surrounded by rainforest the whole way. After arriving at Danpaati River Lodge, spend the afternoon swimming or relaxing by the pool. Once evening arrives, a guided night cruise takes you out to spot caimans along the sandy banks.

Upper Suriname River
You'll visit a traditional Maroon village to learn about the customs and heritage of descendants of African slaves, then check out the Saamaka Museum for more cultural context. A guided rainforest walk lets you see medicinal plants and wildlife like monkeys and birds. In the evening, you'll watch a vibrant dance performance featuring Seketi, Awasa, and Bandamba dances, with your guide explaining the cultural significance of each one.

Upper Suriname River to Paramaribo
Start early to watch the morning mist rise off the river while parrots and toucans fly overhead. After breakfast, you'll retrace your journey by canoe and vehicle back to Paramaribo. The rest of the day is yours to relax or wander around the riverside cafes near your hotel.

Paramaribo
A guided tour takes you through Paramaribo's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you'll see the striking wooden architecture at Fort Zeelandia, the Presidential Palace, and the unique sight of a mosque and synagogue sitting right next to each other. Later, you'll cross the river to see Peperpot Plantation's historic cocoa and coffee buildings, then tour Marienburg sugar estate. During lunch you'll have authentic Javanese food in Tamanredjo, and afterward you'll visit Fort Nieuw Amsterdam where the Suriname and Commewijne Rivers meet.

Paramaribo to Kourou, French Guiana
You'll travel east along Suriname's coast to Albina, then cross the Maroni River into French Guiana and head to Kourou. There you'll tour the Guiana Space Centre, one of the world's most active rocket launch sites. Your guide will show you the launch pads, assembly buildings, and mission control centers, explaining how international space missions operate from this location.

Kourou to Cayenne, French Guiana
A catamaran takes you out to the Iles du Salut (Salvation Islands), where you'll explore Ile Royale and Ile Saint-Joseph with their crumbling prison cells, old church, and coastal trails. You'll hear stories about famous prisoners like Alfred Dreyfus and the escape artist known as 'Papillon.' By afternoon you'll head back to the mainland and transfer to Cayenne.

You'll check out Iracoubo's charming church, which was hand-painted by a former prisoner, then visit the Transportation Centre in St. Laurent du Maroni to learn about French Guiana's penal history. After that, you'll cross back into Suriname and return to Paramaribo for the evening.

Paramaribo to Georgetown, Guyana
You'll fly to Georgetown, Guyana's capital, and dive into the lively markets with celebrity chef Delven Adams. There's time to sample exotic fruits, browse the spice stalls, and visit the 'Backyard Cafe' for a private lunch. In the evening, a river cruise takes you out to watch flocks of scarlet ibis and other birds return to their mangrove roosts as the sun sets.

Georgetown to Kaieteur Falls, Guyana
A small plane flight takes you over endless rainforest to Kaieteur Falls, the world's highest single-drop waterfall at 741 feet. You'll stand at the cliff edge watching 30,000 gallons of water per second plunge into the gorge below. Keep an eye out for golden frogs and cock-of-the-rock birds before flying back to Georgetown.

Georgetown to Iwokrama - Atta Rainforest Lodge, Guyana
You'll fly deep into Guyana's interior to Iwokrama River Lodge, then cruise the river and hike up Turtle Mountain for sweeping canopy views. Later, a 4x4 takes you along one of South America's wildest roads with chances to spot jaguars before you reach Atta Rainforest Lodge near the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway.

You'll travel to the indigenous Macushi village of Surama, which is surrounded by savannah and mountains. During the day, paddling the Burro Burro River gives you chances to see giant otters, tapirs, and macaws. As night falls, a guided forest walk lets you experience the Amazon after dark.

Georgetown
If your trip ends here, you'll transfer to Cheddi Jagan International Airport for your departing flight. Those continuing on will head out for the Essequibo River adventure instead.

Georgetown to Essequibo River - Baganara Island Resort, Guyana
You'll travel by speedboat up the Essequibo River, stopping at historic Fort Zeelandia on Fort Island, an 18th-century Dutch structure. The route passes river islands covered in rainforest where you might spot playful river dolphins. As evening arrives, you'll reach Parrot Island to watch thousands of colorful parrots fill the sky at sunset.
