Itinerary
- Day 1
Islamabad
Start your day at Faisal Mosque, one of the largest in the world, where you'll see its distinctive white marble and geometric design. From there, head up to Daman-e-Koh Viewpoint for views across Islamabad and the Margalla Hills stretching out below. You'll then visit Pakistan Monument and its museum to get some background on the country's history and independence movement. After that, check out Lok Virsa Museum to see traditional folk art and crafts from across Pakistan. By evening, make your way to Saidpur Village, a small area with old buildings and local restaurants where you can try regional food and pick up handmade items from local artisans.

- Day 2
Islamabad - Taxila - Mardan - Peshawar
Leave early for Taxila, an ancient Buddhist site about an hour away, where you'll walk through the ruins of Jaulian Buddhist Monastery and see the Dharmarajika Stupa. The museum there has artifacts and information about what life was like in the area centuries ago. Later, you'll drive to Mardan to explore Takht i Bhai monastery ruins, which sit on a hillside with good views around it, and then visit Sarai Bahlol archaeological site. By evening you'll reach Peshawar and check into your hotel, then have a quiet dinner to rest after the day of traveling and exploring.

- Day 3
Peshawar
Begin at Peshawar Museum to see Buddhist sculptures and Islamic art collections that show the region's mixed cultural history. Then spend time walking through Qissa Khawani Bazaar, one of the city's oldest markets, where you can shop for traditional handicrafts and get a feel for local life. You'll also see Masjid Mohabat Khan before potentially visiting Khyber Pass if local authorities grant permission (this depends on current security situations). End your evening at Chowk Yadgar trying Peshawari kebabs and other regional specialties, then take a relaxing walk through Shahi Bagh gardens.

Peshawar - Lahore
Depart Peshawar early for a 6-hour drive to Lahore, passing through countryside and smaller towns along the way. Once you arrive and get settled at your hotel, take some time to rest. In the evening, head out to see Minar Pakistan and the nearby Badshahi Mosque, two of Lahore's most recognizable structures with their Mughal architecture and historical significance related to Pakistan's independence.

- Day 5
Lahore
This is a full day exploring Lahore's Mughal history starting with Lahore Fort and the Sheesh Mehal inside. Next, visit the Shalimar Gardens, which are laid out beautifully and quite peaceful. Then explore the Walled City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, walking through areas around Delhi Gate and Masjid Wazir Khan with all their history. Stop by the Lahore Museum to see more collections, and if timing works, catch the Flag Lowering Ceremony at the Wagah border. Finish up eating at Food Street, where you'll find Lahore's most famous local dishes.

- Day 6
Lahore to Islamabad
If you didn't cover the Badshahi Mosque or Lahore Fort yesterday, visit whichever one you missed this morning. Then go see the Tomb of Jahangir, which sits in really nice gardens. After that, start your drive back to Islamabad, which is about 4 to 5 hours depending on traffic. This is a good chance to relax and think back on everything you've seen during the trip.
