Which city would be the best to experience the color festival in early March? And what start date would be perfect? I heard the tour is in Varanasi. Do you do short tours from Delhi to Varanasi? Can you recommend any tour for Varanasi?

February start time is good season in India? I heard that the end of March is getting too hot in some area... But I do not want to experience too hot or too cold, or rainy season. What is the weather like?

We are only able to advise and arrange the activities and services that are included within our tour package. Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange or recommend any additional services outside the trip package, either before, during, or after the tour.

    Asked on May 17th, 2026

Will it be easy to find food for lunch and dinner? Are the hotels generally suitable?

    Accommodation
    Meals
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten May 2026

This tour includes 7 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 6 dinners. Transport is a mix of different local experiences including 4x4 safari vehicles, private vehicles, trains, boats, ferries, shuttle buses, taxis, metro, cycle rickshaw, auto rickshaw, and even an overnight sleeper train, depending on the route. Accommodation is generally comfortable and varied, including 16 nights hotel stays, 3 nights heritage property, 2 nights resort, 1 night jungle resort, 1 night homestay, 1 night deluxe permanent tent, 1 night overnight sleeper train. The physical rating of this trip is 2 out of 5, so it is considered fairly easy and suitable for most travellers, including retired couples with normal mobility. In terms of meals, it is generally easy to find additional lunch and dinner options during the journey, as many stops are in tourist-friendly areas with restaurants and local dining choices.

  • T

    Timothy

    Asked on February 17th, 2026

You advised that a uk citizen can get an Indian visa for 90days however when I go to the website it only has one month e- tourist visa. I have reached out to a 3rd party to apply on my behalf however I am told they can only apply a month before the time. I don't want to book the 29 day tour unless I am in possession of the visa. It will be a costly error if I don't get the visa

    Visa
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten February 2026

For UK passport holders, while the online system commonly displays the 30-day e-Tourist visa option, longer-validity tourist visas (including stays of up to 90 days per visit) are typically issued via the standard tourist visa process through the Indian Visa Application Centre (VFS Global), rather than the short-term e-Visa portal.

Visa applications are usually only accepted within a specific window prior to travel, which is likely why the third party provider has advised that they can only apply around one month before departure.

We would recommend contacting VFS Global directly to confirm the correct visa type available to you and the earliest application date.

    Asked on July 23rd, 2022

how to apply Visa to India

    Visa
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten July 2022

An E-Tourist Visa (eVT) visa on arrival is available for select nationalities including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, UK & USA. Passport holders from these countries can apply for an eVT to have their visa issued upon arrival at 16 major airports in India. E-Tourist Visas are available for entry of up to 90 days. Asked on September 1st, 2016

Is there an additional cost for travelling solo?

    Single supplement
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten September 2016

This price is based on a twin shared accommodation whereby you will be roomed with someone of the same sex. You can choose to upgrade to a single room for an additional cost. Please contact us to arrange this.

  • S

    Sophia

    Asked on September 1st, 2016

Is there a required type of luggage for this tour?

    Other
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten September 2016

What you need to bring will vary according to the trip style you have chosen, the countries you are visiting and when you are travelling.

Generally speaking you should pack as lightly as possible. On the vast majority of the trips you are expected to carry your own luggage, although you won't be required to walk long distances with it (max 30 minutes).

Most travellers carry their luggage in a backpack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice if you travel lightly. Smaller bags or backpacks with wheels are convenient although it is recommended that your bag has carry straps. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water and a camera etc. for day trips.
