The Spirit of Chartwell defines luxury Douro River barge cruising and sets the standard for service and quality. Very recently designed and refurbished for, and used by, Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Spirit of Chartwell offers select travellers a cruise experience worthy of its Royal Heritage.

We do apologize for the unforeseen engine problem that led to the alternative transport arrangement. We fully understand that the ferry transfer was not up to the standard you rightly expected. We are also concerned to hear that children were present on board despite our policy clearly stating that the trip is not suitable for children. The luxury suite is located at the front of the ship on the Saloon Deck. The spacious luxury suite features rich hardwood finishes, complete with double bed, comfortable seating area, individually controlled air conditioning and heating, HD satellite television, trouser press and en suite facilities, featuring a power shower.

All meals are served in the main dining room which is lined on both sides by large picture windows which allows passengers to view the passing scenery. Dinner is served in single, open seating, with excellent cuisine incorporating regional specialties.
