3etravel Montenegro Tours

  • How do self-guided tours in Montenegro work?

With a few exceptions, we offer all our tours as self-guided, perfect for independent travelers. Enjoy the freedom and flexibility to walk, hike, or bike at your own pace while we organise logistics such as accommodation, luggage transfers, and detailed tour planning, and provide comprehensive information packages, maps, and GPS trackers.

We’re always available by phone for emergencies or queries, ensuring you’re never alone.
  • What personal equipment should I bring?

Layered clothing for different climates, helmets, and riding gear are essential. In case of lost luggage, we provide helmets and riding gear until yours arrives.
  • Which extra expenses should I expect?

You will need money for lunch, dinner, and drinks. A typical dinner costs between €15-20, a light lunch €8-10, and a liter of red wine ranges from €10 to €12. Coffee is €1.2-2.4, and a small beer (0.3 l) €1.2-1.7. Entrance fees to sights like churches and monasteries, ferry passage in the Boka Bay are additional. ATMs are common in most cities and towns, but credit card acceptance may be limited in remote areas. Cash is the easiest payment method.
  • Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?

Yes, we can accommodate special dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or other dietary restrictions. Please let us know about any dietary requirements or allergies at the time of booking, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
  • What types of transportation do you use for your tours?

We use a variety of transportation options for our tours, including comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles, boats, trains, and bicycles. The type of transportation used will depend on the itinerary and activities included in the tour.
  • Is transportation included in the tour price?

Yes, transportation is included in the tour price unless otherwise specified. We provide transportation to and from the starting point of the tour, as well as transportation between destinations and for any activities included in the tour itinerary.
  • Do you offer airport transfers?

Yes, we can arrange airport transfers for you as part of your tour package. Please let us know your arrival and departure details, and we will coordinate the airport transfers accordingly.
  • What About Border Crossings?

If your tour includes border crossings, these are easy. Everyone must have their passports or ID (EU citizens) on them at all times. Just show your passport; usually, you have to show it twice, when leaving and again when entering. If you have our luggage transfer service included, please make sure your luggage is not locked.
  • Do You Offer Add-on Food Tasting Experiences?

You can enhance any of our tours with tastings of local products. We encourage you to taste wine, olive oil, honey, dairy, ham, and oysters with wonderful families along the way.
Wine and food tasting experiences range from € 10 to € 25 per person, depending on the kind of tasting.
    Please contact us for details.
  • Do I need travel insurance for my trip?

Yes, we highly recommend that all travellers purchase travel insurance before embarking on their journey. Travel insurance can provide coverage for unexpected events such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, lost luggage, and more.
  • Do you offer airport transfers?

Yes, we can arrange airport transfers for you as part of your tour package. Please let us know your arrival and departure details, and we will coordinate the airport transfers accordingly.
We recommend flying into Livat or Podgorica or Dubrovnik airport. Prices for one way start at 40EUR.
  • Your Responsibility on Self-Guided Tours

While travelling without an accompanying vehicle, it is your responsibility to reach the next hotel every day, even in adverse weather conditions or if you don’t feel like walking anymore. However, in case of serious trouble such as a physical emergency, call our emergency hotline, and we will provide as much support as possible, whether by sending a van or advising you on public transportation options such as trains and buses.
  • What Happens in Case of an Emergency?

Due to the partial remoteness of the tour, it is essential to inform the 3E Travel team in advance of any possible medical conditions. In case of an emergency, always get in touch with us using the local mobile phone we provide 24/7. We have a well-established network of institutions and people along the routes who can respond quickly to help you. Our team is competent in first aid techniques and will handle situations professionally.
  • Is Cycling in Montenegro Safe?

The routing follows small side roads with little traffic. In Montenegro, there are no bike lanes except in the capital of Podgorica and Tivat. You are shuttled to avoid any longer sections on main roads, which might get stressful since main roads in Montenegro are busy and narrow.
  • What Fitness Level Do the Hiking Tours Require?

You should feel healthy and fit to fully enjoy the trip. Walks in the mountains require up to 7 hours and an elevation gain and loss of up to 1100 m.
Keep in mind these tours take place in remote areas, and you need to be sure-footed. There are no exposed sections.
The coastal walks are gentler, requiring 5-6 hours, and elevation gains up to +900 m, leading across less remote areas.
  • What Fitness Level Do the Cycling Tours Require?

You should have a moderate fitness level to fully enjoy the tour, or you can take advantage of one of our e-bikes.
  • What add-on tours and activities can I book?

We offer a variety of add-on tours and activities such as city tours, bird watching, sea kayaking, boat tours, crafters, cooking classes, and more. Contact us to organise the perfect expert for you.
  • What Rental Bicycle Models and Sizes Do We Offer?

Our fleet of rental bicycles comprises models from 2018 onwards for all our tours. You can choose from touring bikes, road bikes, or e-bikes for all hard surface tours. MTB tours are indicated separately. We offer the following sizes: Touring XS – XXL; Road bike 48 – 58; Ebike S-M-L; MTB 15”– 21”. Along with the rental bikes, you’ll receive a waterproof pannier (20 l), a repair kit, spare tyres, and a helmet (disinfected, but we advise you to bring your own).
  • What Does Montenegro’s Cuisine Taste Like?

Montenegro’s natural diversity is reflected on plates or glasses. We recommend asking for local dishes. In the northern and central parts, sheep and beef are popular and delicious. In the central part, Podgorica, Cetinje, and Lake Skadar, you’ll find lake fish, vegetables, and, a glass of ‘Vranac’ wine to make your day. Ask for local cheese, it’s an essential part of Montenegrin cuisine. Coastal Montenegro offers fish and seafood. We can organise an oyster and mussel tasting right at the mussel farm.
