Very informative tour with lots of temple visits. This is not a dreamy, relaxing vacation, but it is a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Nile cruise perfectly balances the trip — a great place to rest and sleep after tiring tours, with excellent food to enjoy as well.

Overall Experience The tour was excellent and truly memorable. Egypt as a country exceeded our expectations—we loved the history, food, shopping, and overall experience. Highlights • The Egyptologists/archaeologists assigned to our tour, Mr. Ashraf and Mr. Abdul, were outstanding. Their knowledge, passion, and storytelling rekindled our love for Egypt and made the trip truly special. • Hotels were very good, and breakfast at each location was consistently enjoyable. • The Nile Cruise experience itself was great. • Optional tours such as the hot air balloon ride, felucca/lunch rides, and the Nubian village were amazing. • Iconic sites like the Pyramids and the Sphinx were unforgettable. Areas for Improvement • Nile Cruise room size: The triple-occupancy room was extremely tight with very little space to move. If we had known this in advance, we would have opted for a single supplement. Clear upfront guidance on room size and comfort would be helpful. • Unexpected charges: Some charges were communicated only after arrival, particularly tips for crew and drivers. While tipping is understood, collecting it upfront without prior clarity was unexpected. • Entrance fees: Although it was mentioned that entrance fees would be extra, there was no indication of approximate costs. The total amount came as a surprise. • Optional tour sales experience: The person handling optional tours could be more customer-friendly. At times, the interactions felt abrupt and rude, which negatively affected the experience. Specific Feedback on Abu Simbel The Abu Simbel visit was not worth the long travel time. It involved several hours of travel, standing in line briefly, and then returning, which made the experience disappointing compared to other highlights of the trip. Overall Rating • Tour: Excellent • Egyptologists (Mr. Ashraf & Mr. Abdul): Amazing Despite a few areas that need better communication and customer handling, this was a fantastic trip overall, largely thanks to the incredible guides and the richness of Egypt itself.

Best tour companies for Egypt tours
Three tour companies really stand out when our travelers talk about their Egypt experiences - Timeless Tours, Expat Explore and Beyond The Nile Tours. What makes these operators special is how well they handle the practical details - getting from place to place without hassle, booking comfortable hotels and making sure you have excellent guides like Michael, Peter and Ayman who know their history inside out. The base tour prices offer good value for what's included, and our customers often mention how much they appreciate having everything organized so smoothly. You'll get the main sites and experiences covered in the standard package. Just keep in mind that add-on activities like special dinners, boat rides or extra site visits can push up your total costs quite a bit. It's worth looking at the optional extras list when you're planning your budget so you know exactly what additional experiences you might want to include. Many travelers tell us these tours exceeded their expectations - the guides bring ancient Egypt to life with their stories and knowledge, the hotels are well-chosen and comfortable, and the whole experience flows naturally from start to finish. The small detail that keeps coming up in reviews is how the guides handle all the local arrangements, which lets you focus on enjoying the experience rather than dealing with logistics. One practical tip our customers often share: factor in around 20-30% on top of the base tour price if you think you'll want to join most of the optional activities. That way you won't have any surprise costs once you're there.
Best places to start your Egypt tour
Most of our travelers kick off their Egypt experience in Cairo - about 87 of our recent bookings started right in the capital. While Luxor, Aswan and Hurghada are options too, they're less common starting points. Looking at our booking patterns, people typically lock in their Egypt trips around 5 months ahead (that's 154 days) which really helps with getting those preferred Nile cruise dates and hotel picks, especially in busy seasons. The winter months from October through April tend to be when most people travel since the weather's just right for exploring, but you'll need to book early during these popular months. Summer visitors get smaller crowds and better deals, though you'll want to plan around those hot midday hours. We've found that mixing historical sites with real cultural experiences works best - things like wandering through local markets, watching traditional craftspeople at work and trying authentic Egyptian food. Our travelers often tell us these authentic moments become real highlights of their trip.

Best time to visit Egypt
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter trips through Egypt give you some real advantages - the temperatures are just right for exploring and you'll get excellent value even at luxury properties. Our most requested winter tours combine classic highlights with smart planning to avoid peak crowds. Several include early morning visits to the Valley of the Kings followed by afternoon Nile cruises when the light is perfect for photos. The winter routes work particularly well for combining Cairo's main sites with extended time in Luxor and Aswan. Our travelers love the December-February departures that include both a traditional felucca sailing and also proper cruise ship comfort. The guides adjust the schedule thoughtfully - you'll do most outdoor exploring in the cooler morning hours, then switch to indoor sites like the Egyptian Museum during midday.

- Spring 2026
Spring brings ideal conditions for combining historical sites with outdoor experiences. The March-May tours that include the Red Sea portion are especially popular since the water temperature is perfect for snorkeling and diving. Our spring itineraries often start in Cairo then head south via domestic flight rather than overnight train - it's worth the upgrade to maximize your time. Several tours mix a 4-5 day Nile cruise with time in a traditional Nubian village, which our travelers consistently rate as a highlight. The spring routes through Aswan often include sunrise visits to Abu Simbel followed by afternoon felucca rides when the river breeze picks up.

- May 2026 1,619 tours
- Summer 2026
Summer tours require smart planning but offer real benefits - you'll find smaller crowds at major sites and much better deals on hotels and cruises. Our most successful summer itineraries start very early each day, usually around sunrise, then break during the intense midday heat. Many include extended time at the Red Sea where you can cool off between historical visits. The air-conditioned cruise ships work particularly well in summer - you'll explore temples early, then retreat to the comfort of the boat while sailing to the next stop. Several tours include evening activities like the Luxor Temple light show and also traditional music performances when temperatures are more comfortable.

- July 2026 1,532 tours
- August 2026 1,527 tours
- Fall / Autumn 2026
The autumn months from September through November hit a sweet spot - the heat has eased but winter crowds haven't arrived. Our fall tours often include extended time in places that can be too hot in summer, like the Valley of the Kings and Abu Simbel. Many combine a traditional felucca sailing with a luxury cruise ship portion, giving you different perspectives on the Nile. The October departures work especially well for photography - you get beautiful golden light at the temples without intense shadows. Several tours include desert camping experiences which are much more comfortable in the moderate fall temperatures, and also longer stays in Aswan where you can really explore the local markets and culture.

What our customers ask about Egypt Tours & Trips
How Do You Get Around Between Egypt's Major Cities?
Getting between Egyptian cities is pretty straightforward these days. You've got domestic flights connecting Cairo Luxor and Aswan which is definitely the quickest way to go - lots of people upgrade their Luxor to Cairo journey on the "Adventure Ancient Egypt - 7 Day" tour to a flight instead of taking the train. The overnight sleeper trains are actually a cool budget option though you get to see life along the Nile as you travel. That's what they use on the "Egypt Explorer - Felucca cruise & Red Sea" tour from Cairo to Aswan. If you want more flexibility private air-conditioned vehicles are everywhere and while public buses are cheaper they do take quite a bit longer with not many stops.
Where Can You Find authentic Egyptian Experiences Away From The Crowds?
If you're looking to dodge the tourist crowds Dahshur is amazing with these incredibly preserved pyramids like the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid - way less busy than Giza. Memphis Egypt's original capital has this fantastic open-air museum packed with huge statues and ancient ruins. Right next door you've got Saqqara which was Memphis's burial ground featuring the Step Pyramid of Djoser - it's actually the oldest complete stone building complex anywhere in the world. TourRadar guests always talk about how much they love exploring these places with expert Egyptologist guides who really bring the history to life. You can see all these spots on the "Ancient Wonders Egypt: 14-day" tour.
What Local Cultural Experiences Can Visitors Join In Egypt?
There's some really special cultural experiences you can get involved with in Egypt. Head to a Nubian village on Soheil Island near Aswan where you can experience genuine Nubian hospitality listen to their music try local food and maybe get a traditional henna tattoo. The "Adventure Ancient Egypt - 7 Day" tour has an optional Nubian village visit during the first day of the Nile cruise. Then there's the Galabia Party on Nile cruises where everyone dresses up in traditional Egyptian clothes dances to local music and tries Egyptian dishes. You'll find this on the "Premium trip to discover Cairo - Luxor - Aswan - Abu Simble 9 days with flights" tour on night 5 of the cruise.
What Natural Areas Can You Visit Outside The Cities?
The White Desert National Park is absolutely incredible with these otherworldly white rock formations. The best way to experience it is camping overnight you'll usually go by 4x4 through the dunes and the stargazing is just amazing. The "Ancient Wonders Egypt: 14-day" tour includes one of these overnight desert camping trips. Then there's the Valley of the Whales or Wadi Al-Hitan which is UNESCO listed it's got these fascinating whale fossils from prehistoric times. You'll need a guided tour with 4x4s to get there but it's totally worth it.
