Budget Tours to Egypt
Egypt is truly something else! Imagine sailing the Nile on a felucca with ancient temples gliding by. The Giza Pyramids? Way bigger in person than any photo. Luxor's Valley of the Kings hides royal tombs, and Philae Temple sits beautifully on an island near Aswan. The White Desert feels completely alien, while Karnak's columns scrape the sky. Don't skip camping under the desert stars and snorkeling at Hurghada.

What people love about Budget Tours in Egypt
- Trip to Egypt: Pyramids & Nile by flight - 8 Days
Having traveled 20 hours to get the chance to experience this amazing adventure was worth it. Booking and communication with Madeline was perfect, fast communication and responsive to all queries. Booked a small group tour however found out on arrival we were alone throughout our whole trip which in the long run costed us alot especially with tipping as we had to tip the guides and drivers on our own. Checked into first hotel which was beautiful overseeing Cairo, blessing to have been there. Relied on WhatsApp, this is their form of communication however did not know this was something we needed as our roaming data were not compatible, bought an e-sim which wasn't the greatest either. Most of the tour guides were amazing Emad and driver Ehab were our top picks from Luxor learnt so much from them, funny and all round genuine people. Felt many of our sites were fast as we had to get to another site with time constraints so felt rushed to experience some of our tombs we wanted to stay in longer. We did not like visiting over priced shops that we went into, felt we needed to purchase something just to get out even when you expressed you didnt want to go they still drove you there. Some of the drivers were fast on the roads which did make us think twice about putting belts on. The cruise ship was the highlight, beautiful ship, beautiful staff loved the nile. Food on the ship was great, good selection all day. As we were on our own we found it hard to navigate round on what/where to go with many of our adventures, we missed the last tour for Abu Simbel as the drivers dropped us without saying we were there, we did believe it was a toilet stop so on our end we didn't ask enough questions. Overall the trip was amazing, it was organized well however again you need WhatsApp to talk to drivers and tour guides. Thank you Madeline for the trip of our lifetime well worth it for small country New Zealand folk to experience.
- Egypt Explorer (Cairo, Luxor, Aswan & Abu Simbel)
I came as a solo female traveler and I had an excellent experience start to finish. I felt completely safe and welcome. The hospitality of the tour manager (Mac), the guides (especially Marwa and Ahmed) and the drivers (especially Hossam) cannot be understated. We did everything on the itinerary but because it was just me on this particular tour, the company was very flexible in customizing my experience. Marwa gave an outstanding tour of Old Cairo, the Alabaster Mosque, and the Egyptian museum, providing historical details that brought the artifacts to life. The GEM is incredible! Ahmed was my guide for Aswan and Abu Simbel and taught me a lot about the Nubian people. My favorite day of the trip included the sunrise hot air balloon ride, and going inside some of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Pure magic!

What our customers ask about Budget Tours to Egypt
How much do budget tours typically cost per day in Egypt?
Budget tours in Egypt cost between 130-200 USD per day which covers the basics: accommodation transportation some meals and guides. A 5-day tour starts at around 700 USD while longer 10-day trips average 1900 USD. These prices reflect standard market rates across major tour operators in Egypt. Recent TourRadar feedback notes: "The price was very reasonable considering everything included - accommodations Nile cruise transportation and knowledgeable guides."
What type of accommodation can I expect on budget tours in Egypt?
Budget tours provide 3-4 star hotels and Nile cruise ships that offer comfort without luxury pricing. Properties like the Pyramids Resort by Jaz in Cairo represent typical accommodations with essential amenities including air conditioning private bathrooms and included breakfast. Most hotels are near major sites. In Giza many rooms face the pyramids while Luxor properties put you within walking distance of ancient temples. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The accommodation was safe and clean and it was good that all the activities were managed from there."
When is the most affordable time to visit Egypt?
The best value periods are March-April and October-November. These months balance comfortable temperatures with lower prices. Booking data shows March and October remain popular while maintaining competitive rates. Summer (June-August) offers the lowest prices but temperatures can reach uncomfortable highs. One TourRadar traveler shares: "We went during Ramadan not the best time for foodie travelers but the staff and guides were so helpful."
What are the best budget-friendly activities to do in Egypt?
Egypt offers numerous affordable experiences that showcase its rich heritage. The Valley of the Kings tour and Karnak Temple complex in Luxor provide excellent value. A two-person felucca ride on the Nile costs around $40 USD. The Khan el-Khalili bazaar and walking tours through Islamic Cairo let visitors experience local culture without high costs. Many budget tours include these activities in their base price. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The history is just unbelievable and we really enjoyed learning about everything the most."
Are entrance fees to attractions included in budget tour prices?
Budget tours typically exclude entrance fees from their base price. Visitors should plan for additional costs of 140-155 USD per person paid locally for access to major sites. This covers entry to essential attractions like the Pyramids Egyptian Museum Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The entrance fees to the designated tourist attractions cost about $140 USD per person collected on-site."
How much should I budget for meals not included in tour packages?
Plan for 25-30 USD daily for meals outside the tour package. Local Egyptian restaurants offer meals for 5-10 USD while hotel restaurants charge 15-20 USD per meal. The difference in price often reflects atmosphere rather than quality. A TourRadar traveler shares: "We took us to a local restaurant in Luxor which was the best meal I had in Egypt." Remember to carry small bills for tips and be ready to negotiate at markets.
