This tour exceeded my expectations in every way. I joined without any specific expectations, and it turned into a truly meaningful and memorable experience. The itinerary was well designed, offering a great balance between nature, culture, adventure, and downtime, allowing us to experience Central America in a deep and authentic way rather than just rushing from place to place. Everything was very well organized, from transportation and accommodations to daily activities and communication. Our group lead, Aurora, played a key role in making this happen. She managed logistics smoothly, communicated clearly, and handled any changes or challenges with calm professionalism. What truly set this tour apart was the atmosphere Aurora created. The experience felt inclusive, supportive, and thoughtfully paced, making it easy to connect both with the places we visited and with the group. Her warmth, knowledge, and personal approach brought the region to life and made the journey feel human and meaningful rather than transactional. I learned a lot — not just about Central America, but also about myself — and genuinely enjoyed sharing this journey with such a great group. I would absolutely recommend this tour, especially with Aurora as the group lead. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after it ends.

Antigua to San José was a fascinating introduction to 5 countries, from Mayan to recent political history, ecological and culinary experiences, adrenaline-raising zip lining or volcano boarding to a blissful beachfront retreat. Trip was seamlessly organised and guide Walter went above and beyond in assisting each traveler to get the most from their trip. Highly recommended.

My first time in South America traveling alone, I was lost between all the different options for the tours online. I came on UnuRaymi’s website by accident and wrote to them on WhatsApp. They were incredibly responsive and took the time to structure the perfect tour for me. Starting at Lima, all the way to Cusco, the rainbow mountain, the amazon jungle and Machu Picchu, I felt very well taken care of and I would recommend them to anyone trying to travel to Peru !

Best tour companies for Latin America tours
Our travelers who've explored Peru consistently point to UnuRaymi as a standout choice for solo adventures - they're quick to respond and really adapt their service to each person's needs. G Adventures has built up a solid reputation with their local Chief Experience Officers who know their stuff, plus they've got the cultural elements down pat. Just keep in mind you might need to budget extra for some activities and the hotels are comfortable but basic. While Intrepid offers plenty of route options, we've heard from several customers who felt they could have handled unexpected changes better. It's worth noting that both Contiki and G Adventures got good marks in this area - their teams stepped up when plans needed adjusting. What makes these companies different comes down to how they handle the day-to-day details. UnuRaymi excels at the personal touch, especially helpful when you're trying to figure out which parts of Peru to visit and also how to get around. G Adventures balances structure with cultural experiences, though you'll want to factor in those extra activity costs. Intrepid's routes are solid but they could be more flexible when things don't go as planned. The feedback we get tends to focus on these practical aspects rather than just the destinations themselves. It's these real experiences from actual travelers that help paint the clearest picture of what you can expect from each company.
Best places to start your Latin America tour
Lima tops our list as the main jumping-off point for Latin American tours, with 16 groups starting their journey there. Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro each launch 11 tours, while Antigua and also Playa del Carmen send off 10 groups apiece. Looking at our booking data, most travelers secure their spots around 87 days before departure, but you'll want to move faster for Inca Trail tours since those permits are limited and quick to disappear in peak season. Lima works really well for first-timers - you can get used to the altitude gradually, and the local food scene (especially the ceviche) gives you a proper taste of what Latin America's all about. Our guides always recommend taking at least two days to adjust to the altitude and drinking plenty of water before tackling any serious hiking.

Best time to visit Latin America
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter tours across Latin America let you escape the cold while discovering multiple countries. The routes through Central America are especially popular right now - you'll explore Maya ruins in Mexico's Yucatan and then go snorkeling at Belize's coral reefs. Our travelers love learning to make pupusas in El Salvador's old colonial towns and meeting local coffee farmers up in Panama's villages. These trips mix culture with outdoor activities really well; one day you're hiking an active volcano in Nicaragua, the next you're lounging on Costa Rica's Caribbean beaches. The pacing feels just right too - enough time to properly get to know each place while still covering good ground across different countries.

Spring hits the sweet spot for exploring South America's diverse regions. Our most popular routes begin in Lima and let you get used to the altitude before heading into Peru's Sacred Valley. You'll see amazing wildlife in the Amazon, visit Lake Titicaca's floating islands and cross Bolivia's vast salt flats. The weather works perfectly for the Inca Trail hikes, and our customers tell us they really value having proper time to explore Cusco's markets and colonial streets. Many spring tours include nights at riverside eco-lodges in the Amazon, where local guides share their knowledge about medicinal plants and you'll spot all sorts of wildlife.

Summer trips connect Brazil's lively cities with cultural spots in Argentina and Peru's ancient sites. Starting in Rio de Janeiro, you'll get those great Cristo views before heading to Iguazu Falls - our guests love seeing the cascades from both Brazilian and Argentine viewpoints. From there, most routes cross Bolivia's high plains into Peru for Cusco's markets and also Machu Picchu's incredible stonework. Food plays a big part too; you'll try traditional Brazilian churrasco, take Peruvian cooking classes and taste wines in Buenos Aires.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall brings travelers looking for real Central American adventures. Popular routes start with Mexico City's amazing food scene then head south through Guatemala's colonial towns and Honduras's Maya sites. Our customers enjoy how the trips mix active parts - swimming in cenotes and hiking to volcanic lakes - with cultural moments like watching textile weaving and cooking with local families. You'll stay in simple but good hotels mostly, though some tours include special nights with families near Lake Atitlan and in Panama's mountain villages. Fall timing works really well for wildlife spotting and seeing local festivals across the region.
