I accompanied my mom on this trip and overall I enjoyed it. I appreciated that there was at least one activity planned everyday. The guide (Anas) that took us around the temples was very informative, helpful, and down to earth. He also was there for any questions and was a fun addition to the group. All of our tour guides were excellent, and they all contributed their unique perspectives which enhanced our experience. The organization of the tour was top notch. Big Mo was there prior to the beginning of each day's excursion. The Gewan Hotel was well appointed and its staff and food were commendable. The hotel's location is external to downtown Cairo. There is the City Star Heliopolis, a giant mall, within a few minutes walking distance. The specific reason I gave this tour an overall rating of "Good" instead of "Excellent" was our experience upon landing at Cairo Airport and enduring an extremely stressful period of time trying to locate our driver to the Gewan Hotel. (By the way, they won't be holding a TourRadar sign.) We were exhausted. We crossed a very busy intersection outside the airport multiple times while breathing horrible exhaust fumes. We were inundated with people asking if we needed taxis or directions. I took a picture of my travel partner, and that was how Amad/Aman (sp?) finally found us. Our departure from Cairo Airport was equally upsetting, but in a totally different way. Our drivers did not seem to know which terminal our airline was using or where to exactly drop us off, but they repeatedly told us how big Cairo airport was. We did manage to bumble through everything, and we were EARLY. Turns out, we were too early. The airline carriers "share" check-in counters, and the rolling screen may or may not indicate the actual airline/check-in time, etc. We were simply told that we were too early and to wait. It was interesting that we were actually in the right place at the right time. Everything worked out, but the confusion and stress could've easily been mitigated by communication. C'est la vie!! Overall, it was a wonderful experience that created many memories that I will treasure. I also want to add a caveat. I have lived all my life with asthma and allergies. I did research and learned that Egypt was notorious for "bad" air. I have to say that I used my rescue inhaler more times in Egypt in two weeks than I have used it in over 5 years at home (with wildfire smoke). If you have difficulty with polluted air, allergies to animals, diesel engine fumes, etc., you might consider some sort of portable nebulizer.

Several tours include evening activities like the Luxor Temple light show and also traditional music performances when temperatures are more comfortable.

The autumn months from September through November hit a sweet spot - the heat has eased but winter crowds haven't arrived. Our fall tours often include extended time in places that can be too hot in summer, like the Valley of the Kings and Abu Simbel. Many combine a traditional felucca sailing with a luxury cruise ship portion, giving you different perspectives on the Nile.
