We realized that Tourradar was not really the group for us. It was costly getting to the venues to meet the excursions. Because we're in our 70s we would never try to do that again. Th e places we visted were amazing (Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Versailles). To have our City tour delayed from 315 to 1015 was nuts. Who wants to see Paris in the dark (maybe many??:-( It was too late for us and we skipped it. I personally should not have gone to Mont St Michelle. All those steps were hard on my already hurting back/hips.

The first part of our trip was amazing! Our tour guide, Carmen, was friendly and knowledgeable, and our group size was fine. Once we arrived in Paris, things were a bit more chaotic. Our tour group grew exponentially, it was honestly way too big, and many of the people were quite rude and inconsiderate. Showing up late to the bus, pushing in front, etc. Our guide was nice and tried to be patient with the large group, despite their rude behavior. Unfortunately we had 2 mishaps in the Paris portion of the trip - first, our room was really cold. We moved from our initial room which was freezing to a new room, which was also cold, but not as cold as the first. We tried to adjust the thermostat, but it only blew our cool air. We had a few uncomfortable nights of sleep as a result. Second, our itineraries were not accurate for our tour, and the activities were switched from morning to afternoon. We were not notified by the tour guide about the timing of Versailles, so we therefore lost out on repurchasing tickets to go inside, and were only able to see the gardens. The next day, you (Eskapas) provided the tickets to The Louvre for 10:00am admission. The tour did not go to The Louvre until the afternoon. Thankfully they allowed us in the afternoon or we would have missed that too. Overall, we had an enjoyable trip.

Best time to visit France
- Summer 2026
Summer in France needs smart planning to keep things comfortable. Our Mont Blanc tours are really popular, with early starts to avoid the heat. The cable car up to Lac Blanc gives you amazing mountain reflections and there's nothing quite like reaching high points like Brevent on foot. In Provence, cycling groups head out early to tackle routes like the Les Baux climb, then spend afternoons checking out Van Gogh sites or relaxing poolside. The Atlantic coast gives you good summer options - tours mixing Saint-Malo's sea history with Mont Saint-Michel let you enjoy cool ocean breezes and avoid the busiest times of day.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn brings harvest time and ideal conditions for active travel in France. Our Provence cycling routes put you right in the middle of the wine harvest buzz, with chances to visit small producers during their busy season. The plane trees along the Canal du Midi turn beautiful colors and village markets overflow with autumn produce. Loire Valley tours mix castle visits with new wine tastings, while Normandy gives you crisp weather perfect for exploring medieval Rouen and coastal spots like Honfleur. Our fall cycling groups really appreciate the cooler temperatures on those hilltop village climbs and the way the light makes photos look extra special.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter opens up a different side of France, especially around the Loire Valley and Bordeaux. You'll find the usually packed sites pleasantly quiet during these months. One route that works really well combines Tours and Blois with castle garden visits - Villandry's geometric designs look fantastic even in winter thanks to smart use of evergreens and structural elements. Down in the Dordogne valley, you can take your time exploring Lascaux's prehistoric caves and wander through medieval villages without summer tourists. The Padirac Chasm boat ride shows you France's underground geology up close, though check opening times as it closes during certain winter periods. Wine lovers get extra attention in Bordeaux this time of year, with more relaxed tastings and good chats with winemakers at places like Cité du Vin.

- Spring 2027
Spring brings the French countryside to life, and it's when our cycling tours really come into their own. The Rhône Valley routes in Provence take you past fruit trees in bloom and fresh vineyard growth, with nice stops in Gordes, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and also other charming villages. Our cyclists love mixing cultural visits to spots like Orange's Roman theater with easy rides through Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine country. The Canal du Midi offers perfect spring cycling weather for exploring medieval Carcassonne and dropping by family wineries in Minervois. The Paris-to-Normandy route works particularly well this time of year - Monet's gardens start blooming and you get clear skies for visiting the D-Day beaches.
