Overall tour and organisation was great, being English speaking we were worried there’d be little English, but great to have two guides - dedicated to each sub group. Staying in templehof rather than Berlin central meant it was harder to explore on your own.

My husband and I chose this tour specifically because it was by train and we could see so much. I have been on bus tours and didn’t want to spend days on a bus. We stayed in Frankfurt a couple days more at the beginning and we loved that. Old town Frankfurt is beautiful. We had one day in both Cologne and Bremen and felt it was enough. They are both beautiful though! Hamburg is a gorgeous port city. The Miniatur Wunderland is definitely worth the visit - it is incredible. And then the boat tour and hop on/hop off bus was also great to have. We felt that we saw so much in Hamburg in 2 days. Berlin has a guided tour, Potsdam and Sachsenhausen. All of these were great to see. We also went to Museum Island and saw a few of the museums too. I love WWII history so we got our fill of it here. Then Munich, I love Munich. We walked the Marienplatz and then there was the day trip to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. We paid to go inside (which is extra) and we felt it was worth seeing. I did not know that Neuschwanstein was unfinished but what is there is extravagant. We also took in several beer halls including Hofbrauhaus. I think if we had another day in Munich, it would have been better (but that’s another reason to go back!). We were in constant contact with Javi, our guide, through WhatsApp. He would answer questions and offer suggestions throughout the trip. This is also how you receive your vouchers. It was the perfect balance of being on our own and being with a guided tour. There was some confusion over the transfers from the Frankfurt airport (our flight was late and the driver had left) and train stations (we didn’t know where to go), but Javi walked us through it as it happened - minor hiccups. Overall, it was an excellent trip and we would use Eurolatino tours again to help us see more of Europe by train.

What can I experience culture-wise when I visit Germany?
You'll love hanging out in Bavaria's traditional Biergartens they're such a fun way to dive into German beer culture. Winter's really special here with Christmas markets popping up all over - the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg is probably the most famous one and it's absolutely magical. If you're into wine the Rhine River region is fantastic you can visit places like Weingut Fitz Ritter and really get to know German wines.
Where can I find natural areas to explore outside the cities?
The Black Forest is absolutely stunning with all these hiking trails winding through mountains and cute villages you can get there pretty easily by train or car. If you're up for some serious natural beauty the Bavarian Alps are incredible with these massive peaks and beautiful lakes Deutsche Bahn trains and local buses can get you there no problem. The Rhine Valley's another must-see it's actually UNESCO listed and you can explore it by taking a river cruise or driving along the Autobahn.
What are some different ways to explore Germany that most tourists might miss?
The Romantic Road's really special it takes you through these picture-perfect towns like Rothenburg ob der Tauber and past amazing castles people love it because it feels like stepping back in time. Then there's the German Fairy Tale Route which follows the Brothers Grimm stories through these magical forests and medieval places like Trendelburg and Hamelin it's got this wonderful whimsical feel that's really unique.
Which places in Germany are worth visiting that tourists often overlook?
You should definitely check out Quedlinburg it's got UNESCO status and these amazing half-timbered houses that show off Germany's architectural history really beautifully. There's also this fascinating village called Mödlareuth they actually call it "Little Berlin" because it was divided just like Berlin was there's still a piece of the Wall there and it tells such an interesting Cold War story.
What local foods should I try while I'm there?
In Nuremberg you've got to try the Nürnberger Rostbratwurst these small grilled sausages that come with sauerkraut they're absolutely delicious. When you're in Rothenburg ob der Tauber grab some Schneeballen they're these amazing fried dough balls covered in powdered sugar. And if you're in Frankfurt definitely try some Apfelwein it's this traditional apple wine that locals love to drink in the local taverns it's really unique to the area.
