My husband and I chose this tour specifically because it was by train and we could see so much. I have been on bus tours and didn’t want to spend days on a bus. We stayed in Frankfurt a couple days more at the beginning and we loved that. Old town Frankfurt is beautiful. We had one day in both Cologne and Bremen and felt it was enough. They are both beautiful though! Hamburg is a gorgeous port city. The Miniatur Wunderland is definitely worth the visit - it is incredible. And then the boat tour and hop on/hop off bus was also great to have. We felt that we saw so much in Hamburg in 2 days. Berlin has a guided tour, Potsdam and Sachsenhausen. All of these were great to see. We also went to Museum Island and saw a few of the museums too. I love WWII history so we got our fill of it here. Then Munich, I love Munich. We walked the Marienplatz and then there was the day trip to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. We paid to go inside (which is extra) and we felt it was worth seeing. I did not know that Neuschwanstein was unfinished but what is there is extravagant. We also took in several beer halls including Hofbrauhaus. I think if we had another day in Munich, it would have been better (but that’s another reason to go back!). We were in constant contact with Javi, our guide, through WhatsApp. He would answer questions and offer suggestions throughout the trip. This is also how you receive your vouchers. It was the perfect balance of being on our own and being with a guided tour. There was some confusion over the transfers from the Frankfurt airport (our flight was late and the driver had left) and train stations (we didn’t know where to go), but Javi walked us through it as it happened - minor hiccups. Overall, it was an excellent trip and we would use Eurolatino tours again to help us see more of Europe by train.

Best time to visit Germany
- Spring 2026
Spring opens Germany up nicely - April and May bring just the right temperatures for exploring. Our multi-city tours from Berlin make good use of the clear spring days; you can see forever from the TV Tower and the Tiergarten's gardens are starting to bloom. The Rhine and Moselle valley routes work really well this time of year, with the vineyard terraces turning green and river cruises back in full swing. You'll find the castles like Neuschwanstein and Heidelberg less crowded, plus they look great against the spring mountain scenery. It's when beer garden culture kicks off too - in Munich you'll find yourself sharing benches with locals and trying Bavarian specialties in the fresh air.

- Summer 2026
Summer lets you experience everything Germany has to offer, from cities right through to countryside. Our main route covers 24 different places, showing you how each region makes the most of warm weather - whether you're swimming in Munich's English Garden, taking a boat through the Danube Gorge or walking the Black Forest paths. The long summer days mean more time to explore medieval towns like Rothenburg and Quedlinburg, which our travelers really appreciate. Hamburg's harbor is busy with boat tours and Berlin's Museum Island stays open into the evening. The Brothers Grimm route through central Germany really comes alive in summer - castle gardens are in full bloom and you can walk the forest paths between fairy tale towns.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
The Christmas Markets Rhine cruise sets out from Düsseldorf when autumn's cool air settles in, connecting medieval towns like Rüdesheim, Mainz and also Cologne. Our comprehensive 24-destination route reveals its charm as seasonal changes sweep through - you'll appreciate Munich's beer halls during harvest celebrations, while Dresden's baroque architecture glows against the autumn leaves. Our travelers tell us how the mild temperatures make exploring cities more pleasant, whether discovering Berlin's Museum Island or exploring the lanes of Frankfurt's historic center. The Rhine and Moselle valleys truly come alive this season, as vineyard-covered hills shift to rich autumn shades and local harvest festivals add cultural depth to your travels. For those drawn to premium experiences, the 12-day tours include special moments like castle dining in 13th-century halls and taking in Berlin's panoramic views from the TV Tower, made even better by autumn's crisp, clear skies.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter in Germany really comes into its own, especially during holiday season. The Rhine river cruises connecting Düsseldorf and Cologne take you right to those classic Christmas markets in old medieval spots like Rüdesheim and Mainz. Our guests tell us they love how the tours mix guided walks through historic areas with enough free time to explore the market stalls at their own pace. When you take the Christmas Markets route from Berlin through Leipzig and Dresden, you'll get both city discoveries and seasonal traditions - there's fresh Christstollen cake with hot Glühwein while learning what locals have been doing here for centuries. The Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin and Dresden's Frauenkirke look particularly special all lit up for winter. We've made sure the winter routes include plenty of indoor stops and warm breaks at local restaurants and cafes.
