The tour I took just now in Dec. 2025 was 3-day Iguazu Falls from Rio which is no longer offered. The supplier Etours was very responsive both before and during the tour making sure things were happening according to what we needed. There were a few things they (Daria and team) helped us to find alternate ways to make sure our needs were accommodated. The most impressive is that they responded to one of the situations right away when I email them and make it right. I am thankful the way they responded instantly when things were not happening as planned. There was good communication by whatsapp from each driver before the pickup. I think the overall service was very good. Margaret (Canada).

"Fantastic Tours but a Disappointing Start" Our holiday got off to a rough start. When we arrived at our hotel, we were too early to check in, which was expected. But even after returning at 3 PM, our rooms still weren't ready—we had to wait another hour before we could finally settle in. Unfortunately, the rooms were dirty, and to make things worse, my sister and daughter found cockroaches and male underwear behind the bidet in theirs. The next day, things didn’t improve initially. Our scheduled tour got disrupted because the guide went to the wrong hotel and claimed we weren’t in the lobby at the arranged meeting time. As a result, we missed seeing Sugarloaf Mountain in daylight, which was disappointing since I missed out on the photos I was really looking forward to. That said, the travel operator responded impressively once we reached out. They quickly arranged a private tour to make up for the missed one, and everything from that point on went much more smoothly. As a goodwill gesture, they even added an extra Ginga Tropical experience at the end, which we really appreciated. Out of all the hotels, our favorite by far was the one in Iguazu Falls—clean, comfortable, and everything we had hoped for. Overall, despite the bumpy start, the tours themselves were amazing. The effort the company put into making things right didn’t go unnoticed, and that really helped turn things around. I would recommend them, but suggest they double-check hotel bookings and tour pick-up logistics in the future to avoid similar issues for others.

Best tour companies for Brazil tours
Looking at both companies, Intrepid Travel tends to deliver solid experiences - their tour leaders know their stuff and the logistics usually run smoothly. But it's worth noting that around New Year's, quite a few travelers have mentioned unexpected schedule shifts. They handle the changes professionally, though it can throw off people's plans. TourRadar's situation is a bit more complicated. Some customers have run into communication hiccups, and there's been confusion about group versus private tours. We've heard from travelers who booked thinking they'd be part of a group, only to find themselves on a private tour instead. It's not necessarily bad, but it's definitely not what everyone wants or expects. The key with both companies seems to be asking lots of questions upfront. With Intrepid, you'll want to confirm holiday season schedules and backup plans. For TourRadar bookings, it's smart to get written confirmation about the exact tour type, group size and what happens if numbers change. Their customer service usually responds well to direct questions, which can help avoid surprises later. The actual tours from both companies are generally good quality - it's just the organization and communication that sometimes need extra attention. Most issues seem to come from assumptions rather than actual service problems, which is why clear communication matters so much.
Best places to start your Brazil tour
Rio serves as the main jumping-off point for most Brazil trips, with 49 tours starting there. Manaus is your gateway to 15 different Amazon adventures, while Buenos Aires, Campo Grande and also Salvador handle the rest of our departures. We've found booking about 56 days ahead works well for most dates, but you'll want to move faster during Carnival and New Year's when schedules can shift around. April through June and September through November tend to be sweet spots - good weather and smaller crowds, though the Amazon sees some rain no matter when you visit. Our regular travelers often mix things up by combining a few days in Salvador, with its colonial streets and rich Afro-Brazilian culture, with time exploring either the Amazon or watching wildlife in the Pantanal.

Best time to visit Brazil
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter offers perfect conditions to really see Brazil's diverse landscapes at their best. Lots of our customers combine Rio's cultural spots with Iguazu Falls - you get clear shots at Christ the Redeemer before summer's haze rolls in. Even in winter the carnival spirit stays strong, and you can join local samba clubs or try your hand at Brazilian cooking. The Pantanal wetlands are particularly good for spotting wildlife this time of year since animals cluster around the remaining water pools. Our travelers love starting cool mornings hiking Tijuca Forest's paths and then warming up with rich feijoada stews in neighborhood restaurants.

- Spring 2026
Spring brings ideal weather for exploring outdoors. The Iguazu Falls tours are especially popular now - from the Brazilian side you'll get those wide sweeping views, while the Argentine walkways take you right into the spray and mist. Our customers often tell us how much they enjoyed watching toucans and macaws zooming around the Bird Park's 16-hectare grounds. You won't find the summer crowds at Rio's main sites, making it easy to mix city visits with trips to Petropolis, Sugar Loaf Mountain and other spots. The calm spring waters around Paraty are perfect for boat trips, which our guests particularly enjoy.

- Summer 2026
Summer is when Brazil's coast and nature areas really shine. Many travelers split their time between Rio's lively beaches and the car-free island of Ilha Grande - you can hike to hidden coves or take boats to quiet swimming spots. The Pantanal's summer rains bring out caimans, capybaras and countless birds, making it a wildlife spotter's paradise. Our combination tours linking the wetlands with both sides of Iguazu Falls are especially popular with nature enthusiasts. The Amazon region is also at its best, where our customers love taking night safaris to find nocturnal animals and learning about traditional plant medicine from local guides.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn hits that sweet spot between cultural experiences and outdoor activities. Most of our autumn routes start in Rio, where the mild temperatures are perfect for exploring the hills and vibrant neighborhoods. Many people add time in Paraty, where autumn brings great conditions for boat trips to secluded beaches with crystal-clear snorkeling waters. The Blue Lagoon day trips are always a highlight - our customers love swimming in the pristine waters between the islands. Some tours head inland to mix Iguazu Falls with colonial town visits, and the autumn festivals and shows at places like Rafain Churrascaria are always a hit with our guests.

What's the Best Time to Visit Brazil?
Brazil's got something special year-round really. Winter (June to August) is fantastic for Rio with perfect weather for exploring the city and catching Carnival - you'll see this in tours like the Luxury 7 Day Iguazu Falls Adventure. Spring hits from September to November bringing beautiful blooming flowers and mild temperatures that's perfect if you want to explore the Amazon rainforest maybe on that Amazon Jungle 3 Days tour. Summer (December to March) is when the beaches come alive and everything's buzzing though prices do go up a bit. If you're looking for a quieter time with great weather try fall (April to May) when there are fewer tourists around - the Costa Verde Explorer tour is particularly nice then.
What Are Brazil's Must-Try Regional Dishes?
The food scene in Brazil is absolutely incredible. You've got to try feijoada - this amazing black bean stew with meat that restaurants typically serve Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you're near the coast look for moqueca it's this delicious seafood stew in coconut milk that's huge in Bahia. Açaí bowls are everywhere for breakfast or snacks and you can't miss churrasco - these incredible barbecue feasts at churrascarias all over the country. The Bonito & Pantanal Food Safari and Amazon Food Tour really showcase these flavors beautifully.
How Do I Get Around in Brazil?
Getting around Brazil's actually pretty straightforward. For long distances domestic flights work great connecting major cities like Rio Sao Paulo and Manaus. Buses are a budget-friendly option between cities with different comfort levels. In cities you've got taxis and ride-sharing apps everywhere plus metro systems and buses that run from early morning till late. The Pantanal Bonito & Iguazu Adventure tour uses all these transport types really well.
