Costa Rica Tours & Trips
Few places hit the nature button quite like Costa Rica. Ever dreamed of hiking with views of the Arenal Volcano, or weaving your way through stunning Monteverde Cloud Forest? How about white water-rafting down the imposing Pacuare River, or relaxing on stunning Samara Beach? Head to San Jose and soak up the culture while trying mouthwatering dishes. Costa Rica is where adventure meets culture.

We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica! The rooms in each location were Very nice, and the staff lovely. I would emphasize that the eco-lodge doesn't have AC, so travelers can pack portable fans. All tour guides were fantastic, helpful, and friendly. They were all full of knowledge and enthusiastic about what they were showing us, which made the experiences so much more meaningful. We did more than just see beautiful fauna and wildlife, we really learned a lot too! All transportation was nice, had ac, and were on time. Our private transportation from Manuel Antonio to San Jose airport was spectacular!! Jasper was THE BEST showing us Scarlett Macaws (which we hadn't seen yet), 13 Tucans in one tree (WOW!), and Crocodiles along the route. He made what we expected to be a long boring drive to the airport, an amazing last adventure! Give that man a raise!! 😁🥰 All additional excursion options were great. Only a few things that would be helpful is to include how long each excursion takes to help with planning on what to bring...only pick up times are listed on the itinerary. And communication was left until last minute as to what was happening next, so we were all a little confused sometimes as to what to do. We all got to where we needed to be, but as planners, we would like to have more information prior as to know what to expect. Overall, it was a WONDERFUL experience! Thanks to everyone who was involved! I will absolutely be looking to book through Tourradar again.
Essential Costa Rica - Package with Manuel Antonio National ParkNot enough words to describe how great Gema was! From start to finish she was an excellent tour guide. She showed a great knowledge of Costa Rica. She was very organised and the trip ran so smoothly. She communicated so well with the locals, and if there were any problems along the way we didn’t notice because she dealt with everything. She communicated well with us, even before the trip started to make sure everything was organised. Gema had the most amazing energy, we all loved her instantly. She has such a warmth that made us all feel comfortable on an otherwise daunting trip! We could see that she carried the same energy to whoever she met - it was clear how much the locals at the homestay loved Gema, as well as our bus drivers and anyone we met. Gema provided fun, bubbly, positive energy which was infectious to all of us. Gema went above and beyond her role as tour guide, continuing to help us even after our tour had ended, offering to book dinners for us etc. I couldn’t fault Gema as a tour guide, and think she is a complete asset to TruTravels, she will be great at whatever she does in her future endeavours, and is without a doubt the reason that we loved Costa Rica so much.
Costa Rica AdventureExcellent overall. No complaints! From the tour guide to the locations and all the new friends, everything was nothing but positive.

Best time to visit Costa Rica
- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall is prime time for seeing wildlife across different terrains. Our most popular routes include Corcovado's rainforest trails where guests often see scarlet macaws, spider monkeys and coatis. Many tours combine Arenal volcano views with boat trips through Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, known for excellent bird watching. Fall timing works perfectly for coffee plantation visits in Monteverde, where you'll see traditional processing and try fresh roasts. Several trips include time in Osa Peninsula's quiet beaches for snorkeling with tropical fish, whale watching and also seeing sea turtle hatchlings between September and December.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter in Costa Rica really shines with wildlife and thermal springs. Our most-booked routes mix time at Arenal's volcanic hot springs with guided walks in Monteverde Cloud Forest, where our travelers regularly spot quetzals and sloths hanging in the misty canopy. The cool weather makes hiking especially nice - you'll walk Manuel Antonio's paths seeing capuchin monkeys, toucans and also tropical birds before heading to white sand beaches. Many guests stay with local families in Santa Rosa de Pocosol to learn traditional cooking and help with daily farm work. The dry season creates perfect conditions for waterfall rappelling near La Fortuna and ziplining through Monteverde's forest canopy.

- Spring 2027
Spring offers ideal conditions for nature tours combining Tortuguero's waterways with mountain experiences. Early boat rides let you watch river otters and manatees while morning mist rises from the water. Many guests pick tours mixing volcanic areas with beach time - you'll relax in Tabacón's mineral pools before heading to Tamarindo's surf spots. The spring shoulder season means fewer people on Tenorio Volcano's blue river trails and Mistico Park's hanging bridges. Our local guides are really good at finding tree frogs, tropical birds and also three-toed sloths along forest paths.

- Summer 2027
Summer brings out Costa Rica's green landscapes and cultural life. Popular routes begin at San José's local markets, then head to Sarchi's craft workshops and La Fortuna's activity hub. The afternoon rains actually create great conditions for rafting and canyoning. Many guests love our Monteverde night walks where guides find sleeping birds, active sloths and also rare nocturnal animals. The warm weather works well for mixing forest hikes with beach time - from July through September you'll see nesting sea turtles in Tortuguero before visiting Manuel Antonio's quiet bays.
