Overall, I had a really good experience. The team was very responsive, which I appreciated, and the tours themselves were excellent. The sloth tour was one of the highlights of our entire trip, and the Monteverde night tour was also amazing. Both guides were incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and made the experiences memorable. My main issue was with the self-guided aspect. My friends and I rented our own car, which worked out fine, but I wish we had been given a much clearer itinerary ahead of time. We often didn’t know exactly where we needed to be or what time we needed to be there until I asked, sometimes the day of. That part was stressful and could have been communicated much better. As for the hotels, the first resort in La Fortuna was nice, but one of our rooms did not have air conditioning the first night, which was really uncomfortable because it was hot and humid. The hotel did upgrade us, which I appreciated. The Monteverde hotel was beautiful and the weather was cool enough that no AC was fine there, although you could hear everything outside at night. I also appreciated that they worked with me when people in my group dropped out, but I’d definitely recommend reading the cancellation policy very carefully. I was able to get a partial refund for one person, but not the second, because we were already outside the refund window. Overall, I really enjoyed the trip. The tours were fantastic, the team was responsive, and the flexibility was nice. I just wish the itinerary details had been clearer in advance.
