We really enjoyed our Croatian driving trip! Our car was nice. The itinerary was paced just right. We stayed two nights in Opatjia, and we recommend doing a day trip to Rovijn. We also did not stay in Split, our hotel was in Trogir. Our hotel in Trogir was so quaint and nice. Hotel Tragos. Be aware if you stay in Trogir that the church bells ring at 0530. However, we just returned from Morocco, and you have the same issue with call to prayer being announced over speakers at 0530. Communication was very good from the operator and they were patient with all my questions. Highly recommend this if you are looking for a self-driving experience.

A good week of cycling. Ebike was essential for less fit riders. Some of the accommodation, whilst well located, was not very good. Guide and support were very good.

This self-catered driving tour of Croatia and Mostar was beyond our expectations. The route was comprehensive and of course allowed for “side trips” as things caught our eye enroute to the next hotel. Flexibility and freedom! The car was great and every hotel had something special to offer. Free breakfasts, pools, lovely staff, helpful locals, beach, historical sites and natural beauty all rolled into one. Would definitely do more self-catered driving tours with Tour Radar.

While you're on Korčula don't miss the incredible Moreska sword dance it's this amazing blend of history and energy showing how locals used to fight off invaders through choreographed movements.
What natural parks can you visit in Croatia and how do you get there?
Croatia's got some stunning protected areas you've got to see. Plitvice Lakes is probably the most famous with its 16 beautiful cascading lakes and waterfalls it's actually a UNESCO site and super easy to reach by bus from Zagreb or Split. If you're into dramatic landscapes Paklenica National Park has these incredible gorges carved into the Velebit Mountains just hop on a bus from Zadar to get there. For something really peaceful try Mljet National Park it's Croatia's greenest island with amazing forests and two salt lakes perfect for swimming kayaking or cycling you can catch ferries there from Dubrovnik or Korčula.
Where can you go in Croatia to avoid the crowds but still see amazing places?
If you're looking to escape the busy tourist spots check out the Elafiti Islands near Dubrovnik they're way more peaceful than the city especially Lopud where you can hike swim and enjoy local food without fighting through crowds. Trogir is another great choice it's this charming medieval town near Split with a UNESCO-listed center but somehow stays pretty quiet compared to other spots.
What local foods should you try in Croatia and where's the best place to find them?
Croatian food is incredible you've got to try soparnik it's this amazing savory pie filled with silverbeet garlic parsley and olive oil you'll find it all over Dalmatia in local bakeries and markets. Along the coast brudet is the go-to dish it's this rustic seafood stew that's perfect in seaside konobas. And if you're on Brač island head to a cafe in Dol to try hrapocusa it's this incredible layered cake with walnuts and sugar that locals are really proud of.
