Explore CroatiaLet me start off by saying that the crew was fantastic, especially our main host Minja and our bartender Leopold. The ship was also impressive & the water pressure in the showers, the cleanliness of the rooms, and every detail was given attention to. It was amazing to be able to see so many areas while having all your belongings kept on the ship in a private and secure space, it made each day much more enjoyable as a traveler. We also had great meals & got to swim daily in beautiful areas. Lastly, having a local on the ship to give you advice for laundry or food was super helpful because often times Google or yelp doesn’t help much. Minja even did a wine tasting and lesson, olive oil tasting and lesson, and even Croatian language 101 for everyone which was unexpected and so much fun! However, there are things to consider for a cruise like this that we hadn’t for example we did not dock until well into the afternoon and on one occasion after 5pm which was really disappointing considering we expected to have more time on land to explore. We still gave them 5 stars because the experience was great but if you’re considering a cruise, time on land vs water is something you should think about. We weren’t aware of this and the information given in person was just as vague as on the website.
Southern Explorer (Split - Split) Premium SuperiorWe had a marvelous experience! Vanya, our guide, was superb! One has to be prepared to walk in the National Parks. We did 6 miles in Plitvice Nat. Park. Plenty of rest pauses along the way! We were so impressed with the crystal clear waters, all spring fed! Our hotels were all comfortable with outstanding breakfasts! One could almost skip lunch if you ate a hearty breakfast! We especially enjoyed our balcony at hotel in outer suburb of Split. We could hear nightingales singing at night. The hotel had a sauna, hot tub pool, and cold water pool. Easy bus ride to downtown Split. I would return to Croatia! Loved the tour!

What our customers ask about Fully Guided Tours & Trips in Croatia
What's the best time of year to take a guided tour in Croatia?
Croatia's coastal destinations like Split and Hvar see peak crowds during July and August when beach conditions are ideal. For a more relaxed experience with good weather travelers often choose May-June or September-October. These shoulder months work well for hiking activities in Paklenica National Park and other outdoor destinations. Cities like Dubrovnik and Split maintain their energy through October. Winter tours shift focus to urban areas and cultural attractions. A recent TourRadar traveler reports: "We went in September and had perfect weather for both hiking and swimming plus the crowds had thinned out at major sites like Plitvice Lakes."
What kind of accommodations can I expect on a guided Croatia tour?
Most guided tours provide comfortable 3-4 star hotels in central locations. Split accommodations often include places like Hotel Marul which sits near Diocletian's Palace. In Dubrovnik the Hotel Kompas provides water views from its Lapad peninsula location. Smaller destinations feature family-run properties such as Villa Daniela in Bol. A TourRadar traveler shares: "The hotels were well-located and comfortable - the Villa Daniela in Bol was a highlight with its amazing views and home-cooked meals."
What makes a fully guided tour in Croatia worth choosing over independent travel?
Guided tours in Croatia eliminate logistical hassles while providing expert local context and exclusive access to popular sites. Groups can bypass lines at Plitvice Lakes National Park while guides share insights about UNESCO locations like Split's Diocletian's Palace and Dubrovnik's Old Town. A TourRadar traveler notes: "Our guide Mario was fantastic - his knowledge humor and thoughtfulness made the trip absolutely incredible and showed us places we'd never have found on our own." Tours handle all transport lodging at places like Hotel Kompas Dubrovnik and can adjust activities to group preferences.
What is typically included in a fully guided Croatia tour package?
Standard inclusions cover English-speaking guides quality accommodations like Hotel Vicko in Starigrad Paklenica daily breakfasts and select meals all ground transportation entrance fees to major sites like Plitvice Lakes and Krka National Parks city walking tours and cultural activities such as wine tastings in Pelješac peninsula. Lodging ranges from boutique hotels to traditional guesthouses including places like Villa Daniela in Bol. One TourRadar traveler reports: "Everything was extremely well organized with high quality equipment and exceptionally accommodating guides who worked tirelessly to ensure all tastes were satisfied."
How much free time is typically available on fully guided tours in Croatia?
Tours generally schedule guided activities in the morning leaving afternoons and evenings open for personal exploration. In Dubrovnik after morning tours of the Old Town walls visitors can ride the cable car to Mount Srd explore Game of Thrones filming locations or relax at nearby beaches. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The balance of walking and free time was just right - our guide organized great group meals but we also had plenty of time to explore on our own."
What level of physical fitness is required for guided tours in Croatia?
Cultural tours need moderate fitness for walking on cobblestone streets and steps in historic areas of Dubrovnik and Split with daily walks covering 2-4 miles at an easy pace. Active tours including hikes in Paklenica National Park require more stamina for uphill sections. A TourRadar traveler advises: "The walking in Plitvice Lakes was manageable but some paths were steep - poles were helpful especially on the limestone trails in Paklenica. Our guide at Hotel Vicko always adapted the pace to suit everyone."
