This tour was our first introduction to Sri Lanka and has left us with many happy memories. While the tour itself was packed with activities and experiences we never felt rushed or pressured. Our guide and driver Nilanther did everything he could to ensure we made the most of our time and the small group enabled us to be flexible within the time we spent at different sites. We were well cared for throughout our journey and benefited greatly from Nilanther's guidance and information. We enjoyed great food throughout the tour and while some accommodation was tired and needing attention, we were always comfortable. Overall this was a great introduction to Sri Lanka and would highly recommend it for travellers whose focus is on experiencing the country and culture, rather than having luxury accommodation. The additional activities were essential to the experience, and while reasonably priced, travellers should be prepared for these additional costs, in addition to tipping.
Splendour of Sri Lanka - (8 Days and 7 Nights tour in Sri Lanka)This was a 7 day tour of rural Sri Lanka in a car with 2 other travellers, a retired Dutch couple. Our driver/guide was Sameendra, a really good guy. Knowledgeable & resourceful. The 4 of us got on really well & had a great tour. Highlights included climbing Lion rock near Sirigiya for the sunrise, visiting the Sacred Tooth temple at Kandy, stunning scenery at Ella & a wildlife safari at Yala where we saw elephants, buffalo, deer, mongeese & even a leopard. Not everything went to plan. A train strike meant we couldn’t take the scheduled train ride but Sameendra had contingency plans. Some of the accommodation was mediocre (some was good). The food was all excellent. The breakfasts were included. Other meals were extra but Sameendra knew good places to go. The value of this tour was Sameendra who knows everyone at each location I can certainly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a great overview of what rural Sri Lanka has to offer in a week
