I liked the itinerary—we covered most of the major sights. The tour guide was knowledgeable and punctual. The only issue I had was that he made several negative comments about different groups of people. First, he said that the Rapa Nui people don’t like outsiders coming to Easter Island. That made me very uncomfortable, especially since I am also an outsider. Considering that tourism is a source of income for the Rapa Nui people, that comment felt unkind. Second, he mentioned multiple times that Rapa Nui people don’t like Chinese people. Although I may have made similar observations, I would not share them with anyone except those very close to me. Those kinds of comments should not be shared with clients. Hearing this repeatedly made me wonder what he might be saying about other groups, including Americans or Filipinos (I am a U.S. citizen of Filipino heritage). Third, he made negative comments about the owner of one of the restaurants I visited. He mentioned that they do not like the owner, and I don’t understand why he would share that with me. Finally, he also made a comment about a French company—I believe it was an oil company—but the context was unclear. Overall, these types of remarks are inappropriate to make to a client. They felt rude and unprofessional.

We have just completed the 11 Day Tour of Chile and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Amazed at how much we saw and experienced. The weather was kind, the itinerary flowed well and the hotels, guides and drivers we were allocated were above expectation. Pamela from Tourradar organised almost every detail of our trip and was on hand with colleagues to support us if we had any questions or concerns - most of the time I was relaying how impressed I was with the planning and the fantastic local connections Tourradar have in Chile. Every guide we met was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about their subject. Would not hesitate to recommend this Chilean adventure - it is a diverse and spectacular Country not to be missed.

September kicks off spring in Chile and opens up some fantastic hiking routes. The Torres del Paine W Trek is particularly good as wildflowers carpet the ground and baby guanacos take their first steps. Our 5-day version hits all the key spots - from the Base Torres climb to boat rides across Lake Pehoé. The Atacama tours work really well too, with pleasant temperatures that make exploring Moon Valley's rock formations and watching flamingos at the salt flats much more comfortable. We're seeing lots of travelers combine different regions in spring; you can easily mix vineyard visits in Casablanca Valley with desert exploration and also Patagonian hiking. The mountain trails are quieter than summer but you'll still get stable enough weather for activities like kayaking near Grey Glacier.

The Torres del Paine 'O' Circuit really comes into its own during winter months June through August - you'll find fewer people on the trails and raw, pristine landscapes. Our 8-day route takes you across 50-meter suspension bridges over Grey Glacier and to camp spots right beside Dickson Glacier. The guides are brilliant at pointing out Magellanic woodpeckers in the lenga forests. Winter also brings perfect conditions to San Pedro de Atacama, where night skies are at their clearest. You can spot nebulae, star clusters and distant galaxies through professional telescopes. Many of our clients combine both regions in winter, starting in Santiago's wine valleys before heading south to trek the French Valley and finally north to catch the Tatio Geysers steaming in the dawn light.
