Fantastic countries; Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya, Incredible vehicle driver and cook, amazing travel partners, but the best was the animals; Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Leopards and so many more. I loved Uganda so much I need to go back, we had two leopard sightings, unbelievable. The campsite were good but the food was fantastic, I might have gained weight in this trip. I highly recommend this trip.
Gorillas & Masai Mara - Camping ReverseThis was a famtastic trip although a couple of places i think could be replaced they were hard to get to and not really worth the effort. Overall i had a great experiance with acacia and would recommend to friends

What our customers ask about Camping Tours & Trips in Africa
When is the best time to go on a Camping tour in Africa?
Southern Africa camping tours hit their peak from May to October with cooler temperatures and clear game viewing conditions. This timeframe works well for destinations like Etosha National Park and the Okavango Delta where animals gather around water sources. A TourRadar traveler confirms "The winter months provided perfect game viewing conditions in Etosha though nights were chilly at camp." For coastal regions like the Skeleton Coast March through October brings mild weather that's ideal for camping at locations such as Swakopmund Lodge and Spitzkoppe sites.
What type of camping accommodation can I expect on an African safari?
Standard accommodations on African camping tours include dome tents equipped with mesh insect screens and 4cm sleeping mats. Most sites like Okaukuejo Camp in Etosha provide modern amenities including shower blocks swimming pools and floodlit waterholes for evening wildlife observation. A TourRadar traveler notes: "Life on the truck involved long drives great views out of the windows and new locations to explore as well as daily tasks and pitching tents. The tents were surprisingly very comfortable."
What wildlife am I likely to see on an Africa Camping safari?
Wildlife viewing opportunities center around the "Big 5" with additional species across various ecosystems. Prime viewing locations include Etosha National Park's illuminated waterhole the waterways of Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park's elephant populations. One traveler reports: "In Etosha alone we saw over 30 elephants countless zebra and giraffes and even tracked rhinos on foot with our guide in the Matobo Hills."
What meals are provided during Africa camping tours?
Tour packages typically cover three daily meals prepared by camp chefs. Mornings start with cereals toast eggs and hot beverages while packed lunches accommodate game drives. Evening meals combine local and international dishes cooked at the campfire. A TourRadar traveler shares "The food was amazing - our chef and team did a fantastic job preparing meals in camp settings." Sites like Mountain Rock Camp in Masai Mara offer both local and Western food choices.
How safe is camping in Africa's national parks?
Safety measures in African wilderness camping are comprehensive though basic precautions remain essential. Major parks like Kruger and Serengeti maintain either fenced compounds or staffed security. Professional guides at locations such as Mountain Rock Camp in Kenya bring extensive wildlife and safety expertise. According to one traveler: "I was a little nervous concerning the lack of protection in the parks but we had no incidents. The guides were very professional and safety-conscious."
What kind of bathroom facilities are available at the campsites?
Bathroom standards vary across African camping locations. Well-established sites in Kruger National Park and Serengeti Simba Camp offer proper toilets and hot showers. Remote locations particularly bush camps in the Okavango Delta provide basic amenities with pit toilets and bucket showers. A TourRadar traveler shares "The hygienic conditions of some campsites weren't acceptable for everyone. You need to be prepared for basic facilities especially in remote areas."
