Very nice experience with Gentjan. It was more than just a food tour as we discussed history, culture, and the future of the city/country. Interesting to learn so much while we walked and enjoyed so much food. Going to small side street locations and walking through in more common areas. He explained what most people miss as they walk by. I ate almost too much with some extra for later.

We had initially booked another tour through tourradar and were very disappointed on how they handled the changes they made to the tour that would have cheapened our experience and were not very accommodating. However, we finally were able to find a different tour and we enjoyed it very much. Essentially, everything met our expectations.

What our customers ask about Food & Culinary Tours in Europe
When is the best time to go on a Food & Culinary tour in Europe?
Each European region has its prime culinary season. Fall months (September and October) work well in Mediterranean areas where you can join the harvest at places like Gavalas winery in Santorini. Spring months (May and June) are better suited for Northern European destinations with pleasant weather for exploring outdoor markets in cities like Prague and Budapest. The temperatures are mild which makes walking between food stops comfortable. One TourRadar traveler noted: "We visited in October which was perfect timing to learn about olive oil production and taste the fresh harvest in Puglia."
What makes European Food & Culinary tours unique compared to other regions?
European food tours blend centuries of cooking traditions with direct cooking experiences. Visitors can make pasta in Italian farmhouses such as Tenuta Linazza then explore historic wine cellars in Porto's Douro Valley. The experiences connect modern dining with deep cultural roots that span generations. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Chef Emilio's cooking classes in Puglia weren't just about recipes - we learned the history behind each dish and visited local producers to understand ingredients firsthand."
What types of accommodations can I expect on a European Food & Culinary tour?
Most stays mix historic buildings with family-operated hotels that have strong ties to local food culture. Some properties like B&B Hotel Quattro Canti in Palermo feature rooftop dining spaces with city views. Traditional farmhouses (masserie) such as Tenuta Linazza let guests experience authentic farm life. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Staying at the Villa Favorita Bungalow in Marsala gave us direct access to the wine region and amazing local food experiences."
How much food and wine is included in these tours?
Most tours cover daily breakfast several special dinners and multiple food tastings. The Sicily Food Adventure package includes 9 breakfasts wine samplings and guided street food walks in Palermo. Portions tend to be generous. A TourRadar traveler shared: "During our Prague-Vienna-Budapest tour we enjoyed at least 3-4 tastings daily from local wines to traditional pastries plus wonderful dinners at each stop."
What regions of Europe offer the best Food & Culinary experiences?
Strong food cultures exist in Italy's Tuscany and Sicily Portugal's Porto and Douro Valley and the Prague-Vienna-Budapest area. Each region specializes in different foods and cooking methods. The variety ranges from quick Sicilian street snacks to detailed Portuguese wine production. One TourRadar traveler commented: "Exploring both Sicily and Puglia showed us how diverse Italian cuisine really is - each region has its own unique flavors and traditions."
What are the must-try culinary experiences on a food tour in Europe?
Essential food experiences include hands-on pasta making classes in Taormina wine tasting sessions at Tuscan vineyards like Chianti and Brunello and guided market tours in Istanbul. These activities let visitors learn local techniques taste regional specialties and understand food traditions. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The cooking class in Taormina was so much fun. The fresh food prepared at Emilio's masseria was delicious he prepared a different dish for us every day."
