Over all, we had an amazing 6-day Rocky Mountaineer tour - Vancouver to Calgary from May 27 to June 1, 2025. We were so impressed with the super service provided by the Rocky Mountaineer during the first two days of the tour. We also would like to appreciate the Calgary Tour driver/guider David for the professional, helpful and nice service he bought to us throughout the last three days (May 30-June 1) of our trip in the Rockies which left us with an enjoyable and unforgettable memory for life time! This tour could be 100% perfect if we were not asked by Raymond, the diver/guider from Calgary Tour, to pay Cad$15 per person of all the guests for tips at the beginning of day 3 of the tour (May 29), although the tips for the entire tour had been prepaid with our booking.

The 3 days in Banff were fantastic. The guides from Calgary Tours were professional, warm, friendly and knowledgeable. I would tour through them again. The service on the Rocky Mountaineer was exceptional but the experience itself wasn’t what I was expecting based on their own advertising. Most of the view for the trip was just trees, which is lovely as we want our forests to remain populated but it made for a fairly boring trip. Next time I would choose a bus and go to Jasper or just fly.

What our customers ask about Canada Guided Tours & Trips
When is the best time to take a fully guided tour in Canada?
The prime months for Canadian guided tours span June through September when temperatures are most agreeable. The Canadian Rockies reach their peak in July and August bringing pleasant daytime temperatures and fields of mountain wildflowers. September offers a quieter experience with rich fall colors while winter tours (December-March) focus on snow-covered landscapes and aurora viewing opportunities. A TourRadar traveler recommended: "We went in September and it was perfect -ff and Jasper and far fewer tourists than peak summer."
What are the main benefits of taking a fully guided tour in Canada?
Guided tours in Canada take care of the complex logistics while providing local expertise across destinations like Banff Jasper and the Canadian Rockies. A professional guide manages all travel details from transport to bookings at properties like the Whistlers Inn in Jasper or Banff Aspen Lodge. They also arrange activities from glacier excursions to wildlife spotting. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The Canadian Rockies tour was amazing! Our guide was friendly informative and had a great personality. We saw all the big sites and the team was so accommodating when things didn't work out due to weather."
How far in advance should I book a fully guided tour in Canada?
The most sought-after tours particularly during summer months (June-August) reach capacity 6-12 months before departure. Rocky Mountaineer journeys through the Canadian Rockies typically fill a full year ahead while winter tours offer more flexibility for last-minute bookings. A TourRadar traveler suggested: "Book at least 6 months ahead for summer tours to get your preferred dates and accommodations especially in popular areas like Banff and Jasper."
What's typically included in accommodation on fully guided Canada tours?
Tours generally feature stays at upscale hotels and lodges in central locations. Guests might find themselves at the grand Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel nicknamed the "Castle in the Rockies" or wake up to lake views at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The hotels were all excellent quality and perfectly located - from the Sutton Place in Revelstoke to being right on Banff Avenue allowing easy access to restaurants and shops."
What should I pack for a fully guided tour in Canada?
Mountain weather calls for versatile clothing layers including a waterproof jacket warm fleece comfortable walking shoes and smart casual attire for evenings at premium hotels. One TourRadar traveler advised: "Even in summer bring warm clothes for the Columbia Icefield and early mornings at Lake Louise plus nice outfits for dinners at the Banff Springs Hotel." Photography equipment proves essential for documenting the landscapes at spots like Moraine Lake and the Icefields Parkway.
How much does a typical fully guided tour in Canada cost?
Tour costs range widely based on duration included features and travel style. Daily rates typically fall between $250-500 USD. A week-long Trafalgar Rockies expedition averages $492 USD per day covering hotels transport and most meals while an 8-day G Adventures journey runs about $375 USD daily. One TourRadar reviewer mentioned: "While not cheap the value was excellent considering the quality of hotels like the Westin Calgary and the included experiences."
