Fall brings golden larches and quieter trails once the summer crowds head home. The 5-day autumn tours use the clear mountain air and steady weather for exploring Johnston Canyon, Maligne Canyon and also the Icefield Parkway's lookouts. Our September and October groups often see more wildlife - especially elk during rutting season around Jasper. You'll still visit all the major spots like Lake Louise and Moraine Lake before it closes for winter, but with better timing since the peak crowds are gone. Our travelers really like how the comfortable hiking temperatures pair with great photo light as the fall colors reach their peak. From what our travelers tell us, all three Calgary tour companies have their own strengths and quirks. Calgary Tours gets lots of praise for running smooth trips with guides who really know their stuff, though you might need to listen carefully since some guides have strong accents. Meanwhile, Discover Canada Tours has built quite a following thanks to Rhawnie - she's incredibly knowledgeable about the area and brings everything to life. Just keep in mind the Ranch dinner they include isn't anything special according to recent feedback.
