We had the best 6 day tour around Iceland (lucked out most days with ok weather despite the winter and short days) and with Siggi our tour guide who was hands down the best tour guide I’ve ever had. He kept us very well informed every day and throughout so we knew what to expect which was great. We stopped at so many unique and beautiful places and his love and knowledge of his country made it so much more interesting and enjoyable as well as being just a good human who seemed to relate well to everyone in the group. The stories and anecdotes and humour just made it a fun trip as well as seeing and learning so much. There were so many highlights of the trip but my favourite was diamond beach / glacier lagoon and catching the northern lights in the middle of nowhere at the wilderness centre. Truly special. My family and I are now working out when we can come back in the summer months for a totally different experience and yes we will be booking with arctic adventures and hopefully Siggi again.

Beautiful country and trip was very well organised , Adolf was a great guide . A little more info in advance about weather conditions would have been good so we would have known to dress appropriately

All was good. Great tour guide who really knows Iceland. There was a Tour Radar snafu right at the start whereby the (personal) information that we filled out on the Tour Guide web site never got to the tour guide when checking us in. Didn’t feel comfortable sharing our information verbally in a group setting.

What our customers ask about Bus Tours in Iceland
What is the typical daily schedule like on a coach tour in Iceland?
Iceland coach tours operate on a well-structured schedule starting with hotel pickups between 8-9am from Reykjavik or other main towns. Each day features visits to 2-3 significant locations such as the thundering Gullfoss waterfall the active Geysir area or the ice-filled Jokulsarlon lagoon. Comfort stops occur about every 2-3 hours. Tours generally conclude between 5-7pm with returns to accommodations like Hotel Klettur in Reykjavik. During winter months (September to March) evening Northern Lights excursions add an extra dimension to the experience. One TourRadar traveler noted "The timing was perfect - attractions were well planned and well thought out. I don't believe we followed the average tourist crowd."
What are the key attractions covered on most bus tours in Iceland?
The classic Golden Circle route stands at the heart of most Iceland coach tours featuring stops at Thingvellir National Park Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area. South Coast explorations take visitors to the black sands of Reynisfjara beach the cascading waters of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss and the floating icebergs at Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. Accommodations such as Fosshotel Baron in Reykjavik and Hotel Laki near Kirkjubaejarklaustur serve as convenient bases. A TourRadar traveler reflected: "We saw a lot in one week - stunning scenery beaultiful waterfalls lakes and a glacier. The sagas of early Icelandic life and the vikings were enlightening."
How much free time do I have to explore independently on a coach tour in Iceland?
Independent exploration blends naturally into Iceland coach tours especially in urban areas like Reykjavik. Major attractions such as Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and Thingvellir National Park allow for 1-2 hours of self-guided discovery. Evening hours often remain unscheduled particularly in Reykjavik where guests at Hotel Klettur can explore local dining scenes or join Northern Lights excursions. Some itineraries include full free days perfect for optional activities like whale watching or Blue Lagoon visits. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The tour was fantastic. It was great having time to both be guided and also explore on our own."
What unique scenic experiences can travelers enjoy from the comfort of a bus tour in Iceland?
Large panoramic windows on coaches provide clear views of Iceland's ever-changing landscape from the warmth of your seat. The journey reveals stark transitions from the volcanic rifts of Thingvellir to the ice fields of Vatnajökull. Strategic hotel locations from city-based Fosshotel Baron to rural Hotel Laki position visitors for optimal viewing experiences including potential Northern Lights sightings in winter. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The tour gave us stunning views of snow covered volcanoes black sand beaches covered with 'diamonds' of ice and waterfalls that take your breath away."
What are the biggest time-saving advantages of traveling via coach tours in Iceland?
Coach tours eliminate the need for rental cars navigation and weather monitoring. Professional drivers handle challenging road conditions while guides share local knowledge and historical context. The routes efficiently link major sites combining attractions like the Golden Circle with South Coast destinations. Hotels such as Hotel Laki near Kirkjubaejarklaustur reduce transit times between locations. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned: "We saved days of research prior to our holiday as well as the stress of driving and navigating."
How do bus tours in Iceland accommodate stops for sightseeing and relaxation?
Stops range from quick photo opportunities at scenic points to extended 1-2 hour visits at major sites like Thingvellir National Park and Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. Rest breaks include visits to geothermal spas such as the Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon. A TourRadar traveler commented: "The stops were well-planned with enough time to take photos use facilities and really appreciate each location. Our guide Antoine made strategic stops along the way when weather and lighting were optimal."
