I couldn’t have chosen a better company to go on my first overseas group trip with as a solo female traveller, it was an 10/10 experience with an amazing group of people. I joined the Sri Lanka trip where we went on safari, did surf lessons, cooking classes which were incredible, but my highlight was the train from Kandy to Ella!! From there I joined the connecting trip to the Maldives where we swam with whale shark, manta, and even dolphins, explored a shipwreck and drank a couple of cocktails at a resort! The effort that Lucas and the team puts in to ensure everyone has the most amazing time is admirable. It’s a trip I will never forget and safe to say, this will not be my only trip with Indy Escapes. I could not recommend them enough.

This was a fantastic 4-day tour. Got a good glimpse of Bali, wish I could have extended it for longer! The itinerary was well put together to offer you a great experience. The tour guide, Yustus, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The driver, Mr. Pepen, was great at navigating the windy streets teaming with traffic. Overall, highly recommend booking this tour. I had an amazing time and will do the longer tour next time!

What our customers ask about Surfing Tours & Trips
What are the best destinations for surfing tours?
For great surfing, head to Byron Bay and Spot X Surf Camp in Australia, where friendly local instructors will help you catch waves at iconic breaks. In Bali, both Kuta Beach and Canggu work well for learning - the water stays a pleasant 80°F (27°C) year-round. If you're looking for reliable waves, check out Taghazout in Morocco. The conditions there are good pretty much any time you visit. As one TourRadar traveler says: "The surf lessons were really well organized and the instructors were excellent at getting everyone standing up on their first day."
When is the best time to go on a surfing tour?
The best time really depends on where you want to go. If you're heading to Byron Bay in Australia, book between September and April when the water's warmer and waves are consistent. For Morocco's Taghazout, winter (October-March) brings bigger waves of 6-8 feet (2-2.5 meters). In Bali, plan your trip during dry season (April-October) when you'll find steady waves around 3-5 feet (1-1.5 meters). One TourRadar traveler shared: "We went in April and had perfect weather and waves every day at Byron Bay - not too crowded and ideal for learning."
How long are typical surfing lessons on these tours?
Most lessons run for 2-3 hours, including time for beach instruction before you hit the water. At Spot X Surf Camp in Australia, you'll spend about 90 minutes in the water during morning lessons. In Taghazout, they split up the sessions between morning and afternoon - this way you can rest between sessions and catch the best waves of the day. One TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Having both morning and afternoon sessions really helped cement the techniques we learned, with enough rest time between to recharge."
What accommodation can I expect on a surfing tour?
You'll stay close to the surf spots, which makes getting to your lessons easy. In Byron Bay, you might be at the Wake Up! Hostel or similar places right by the beach. If you're surfing in Bali, expect to stay at laid-back surf camps or beachfront spots like the Kuta Paradiso Hotel. In Morocco's Taghazout, you'll likely stay in a traditional riad where you can walk to the surf breaks in just a few minutes.
