Central Asia Tours & Trips

Picture yourself strolling through Ashgabat, its streets a gleaming expanse of marble, the buildings a brilliant white under the relentless desert sun. Behold the Darvaza Gas Crater, also known as the "Door to Hell," a perpetual inferno that comes alive at twilight. Wander through the ancient remnants and mosques of Khiva, a city that has stood the test of time. In Bukhara, a former center for Silk Road trade, admire the historic landmarks, their surfaces decorated with elaborate mosaics.

My trip to the 5 Stans was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide Stoyan was superb - nothing was too much trouble and he always offered to carry the suitcases of the older people up stairs etc when there was no elevator. The English of the first guide in Bishkek was not too good and he needed to research his subject matter. The 2 lady guides were spot on - great English and knew their material especially the guide in Almaty. I loved my trip and have just booked another Tourradar trip.

Overall, i enjoyed the trip. We had one tour guide whose English was not very good, making that section of the trip not as enjoyable. It would be helpful to have the next day’s itinerary given the night before with information about where we are going and major historical figures in English. With the historical figures spelled phonetically and in the native language. Without knowing the alphabets in the different Stans, it was difficult to know who we were talking about. It would also be better if the sprinter vans had back windows or another van was added so no one had to sit in the back with no window views. In Kazakhstan, it was mostly nature tours with different areas pointed out as we drove. If you were in the back, no one could see what was being talked about. The first two countries had limited viewing because of this. It made the first two countries not great experiences.
