Budapest was fabulous. I added a classical concert at Matthias Church which was delightful. There was lots of time spent driving. Would have been nicer to change transport to trains and ferries. The visit to Lake Bled was a bit disappointing. Especially after visiting Plitvice Lakes

If this tour had not been advertised as a Christmas Market Tour, it would have been a lovely tour of history and beautiful countryside of the area. We were a very small group, and our guide was knowledgeable, curious, and friendly.

Should I stick to one country or see both Croatia and Slovenia?
You'll get totally different experiences in both countries and they're actually perfect to combine. What local food should I definitely try?
You've got to try soparnik in Croatia it's this amazing savory pastry filled with silverbeet onions and parsley that you'll find around Split. There's also kotlovina a really hearty meat stew they cook in traditional cauldrons. Over in Slovenia make sure you taste kremsnita especially at Lake Bled where this creamy custard dessert is iconic and don't miss jota a warming stew with sauerkraut and beans.
