If this tour had not been advertised as a Christmas Market Tour, it would have been a lovely tour of history and beautiful countryside of the area. We were a very small group, and our guide was knowledgeable, curious, and friendly.

We had an EXCELLENT tour! Marko, our guide, was fantastic. His English was very good - fortunately - and we greatly appreciated the additional background he provided from his study of the area's history.

Best time to visit Croatia and Slovenia
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter brings a special charm to Croatia and Slovenia tours, particularly around Christmas markets. Our most popular December route starts in Budapest, where travelers love exploring the Vorosmarty Square market with its traditional chimney cakes and mulled wine. The journey continues to Zagreb's Advent festival, which transforms the city with acres of fairy lights and festive igloo bars. Several routes include Ljubljana's riverside Christmas market, while others focus on Slovenia's alpine regions. Up at Lake Bled, travelers tell us the snow-covered castle and island church create perfect winter photos. The mountain routes to Sljeme offer traditional Croatian lunches in cozy lodges and cable car rides with panoramic views over Zagreb's winter wonderland.

- Spring 2026
Spring travel through Croatia and Slovenia offers incredible seasonal experiences, with wildflowers dotting the hillsides and ideal temperatures for exploration. Our routes begin in Venice, where you'll start your day with gondola rides and fresh seafood before heading to Slovenia's Postojna Cave. The electric train journey through limestone chambers gives you a fascinating underground perspective that our travelers love. At Lake Bled, the spring timing adds something special - you'll take traditional pletna boats to the island church while snow-capped Julian Alps create the perfect backdrop. Moving through Croatian Istria, spring brings prime conditions for truffle hunting near medieval Motovun, wine sampling at family vineyards and also local cuisine tastings. We take you through Zagreb's vibrant open-air markets, full of spring produce, and to Plitvice Lakes National Park, where wooden walkways wind between waterfalls at peak flow from winter melt. Our customers particularly value the mix of guided activities and independent time to explore places like Split's Diocletian's Palace or take sunset sailing trips from Dubrovnik around the Elafiti Islands, all made better by the comfortable spring temperatures.

- Summer 2026
Summer tours through Croatia and Slovenia tend to mix inland exploration with coastal experiences. Our most booked route starts in Venice with gondola rides and fresh seafood dinners before heading to Slovenia's Postojna Cave, where the electric train ride through limestone chambers offers a cool break from summer heat. Many travelers choose tours that include Lake Bohinj and Mount Vogel for alpine views and hiking. Along the coast, routes through Rovinj combine historical tours with stays on private islands, while Zadar offers chances to swim and visit the Sea Organ. Our customers particularly enjoy the summer evening tours in Split, where Diocletian's Palace comes alive with music and outdoor dining.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
These autumn tours across Croatia and Slovenia blend cultural experiences with quieter visits to major sites. Several routes start from Budapest, where travelers explore the historic Jewish Quarter before continuing to Slovenia's wine country. The timing works perfectly in Goriška Hills, as you'll taste excellent Rebula and Sauvignon whites while watching local vintners bring in the harvest. Fall brings a special magic to Motovun, when truffle hunting season peaks - our guests love heading into misty forests with expert guides and their dogs, followed by warming meals featuring fresh truffles. Along the coast you'll discover Rovinj and Piran, where local artists showcase their work in historic buildings, and you can sample fresh shellfish in Lim Bay. Tours typically wrap up in Split with time to discover Diocletian's Palace, when cooler weather makes walking tours far more enjoyable. The lakes at Bled and Plitvice put on a spectacular show of autumn colors mirrored in clear waters, and our travelers often tell us how the soft seasonal light creates exceptional photo opportunities.
