What people love about Hiking & Trekking Tours in Atlas Mountains
- Moroccan Desert Adventure: River Canyons & Camels
Mohammed was the best CEO ever. He took care of us, every step of the way. From organising us taxis to making executive decisions about the itinerary in light of weather conditions. He made sure we had the smoothest experience. He even took care of the smallest details, making sure we all sat together at one table rather than seperate. Taking time to talk to us individually. Each day was new accomodation which was staring tiring but exciting at the same time. Everywhere we stayed was amazing and like nothing I’ve done before
- 7-Day High Atlas Double Summit Trek: Oukaimeden & Mount Toubkal
I did a 7 days trip with Ibrahim and Mohamed. We spent nights in comfortable Guest Houses along the road and at CAF refuge 1 night before Toubkal climb. Mohamed is an excellent cook (vegetarian diet OK). Ibrahim knows the Valley very well! Itinerary will be adjusted depending on the weather and trails'conditions. The walking pace and distances were adapted. I stayed at Hassan Amazing Family House 1 night. Every thing was very well organized. It is a fantastic experience to discover local life, away from crowded areas

What our customers ask about Hiking & Trekking Tours & Trips in Atlas Mountains
What are the best times of year for hiking in the Atlas Mountains?
The Atlas Mountains present ideal hiking conditions during spring (March-May) and fall (September-October) when daytime temperatures hover around 20-25°C with clear visibility. Summer brings intense heat at lower elevations while winter transforms higher altitudes especially around Mount Toubkal with temperatures plunging to -20°C. A recent traveler remarked "We were blessed with fantastic weather clear blue skies and amazing views of the Atlas Mountains that stretched as far as Marrakech."
What type of accommodation can I expect during Atlas Mountains treks?
Options range from simple mountain shelters to welcoming gites and authentic Berber homes. Riad Bouchahoud in Tijhza provides private rooms while mountain refuges like Les Muflons near Toubkal offer shared dormitories. The luxurious Kasbah du Toubkal overlooks scenic valley landscapes. According to a recent guest: "The gite was basic but adequate and they provide blankets. The food at the gite is fresh and healthy and the hospitality from the Berber people was incredible."
How challenging is the Mount Toubkal trek?
The Mount Toubkal trek requires strong physical fitness with summit day involving 6-8 hours of hiking starting before dawn. Climbers face substantial elevation changes from 2400m to 4167m. Winter climbs need additional technical skills due to snow and ice conditions. One trekker shared: "The summit day was hard work with a 4am start but the views from the top were absolutely incredible - you could see across the Atlas range and all the way to Marrakech on a clear day."
How experienced are the guides in the Atlas Mountains?
The guides primarily Berber locals possess extensive knowledge of the mountain terrain. Their training covers safety first aid and high-altitude trekking with many having led hundreds of Toubkal summits. A recent client shared: "Hassan our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable about the local area culture and mountains. His experience made us feel completely safe even in challenging conditions."
