The mix between vibrant Cairo and the peaceful nature of Fayoum was just perfect! From museums and pyramids to waterfalls and lakes, I got the best of both worlds. The trip was smooth, and the guides were top-notch—professional, knowledgeable, and kind.

We have wanted to see the Pyramids and other sites for years and this tour achieved all this. The Egyptologist guide for the GEM was Sohaila, she was really professional and knowledgeable and guided us around this giant museum and explained a lot in the time available. The Guide for the Nile cruise was Ahmed. His English was perfect and he was good fun. He was very knowledgeable and professional and took great care of our large group of 22 people. Unfortunately 7 of the group had bad tummies, including my wife and I, so take some tablets to counter these effects. The plan was to stay 1st night at the Helnan Dream 5* but there was not sufficient availability so my wife and I were put in the Stay Inn, where the traffic was so noisy we couldn’t sleep, so not a great start. Night 2 we elected to go on the sleeper train to Aswan despite reading reviews about the poor state of the trains, (but we also heard the flights are regularly delayed), it turned out the last carriage was recently refurbished and it was an excellent trip. We then transferred to the M/S Renaissance, which was a nice boat to relax for nights 3, 4 & 5 and enjoy the fertile Nile River views. We transferred by coach to the Iberhotel at Hurghada for night 6, 7 & 8, which is a really we presented resort. We then transferred on a coach to Cairo airport, a 7 hour ride arriving 9pm. We chose to stay a night at the airport as there were no night flights to London. Overall very enjoyable.

From the moment we arrived till the moment we were dropped back to the airport, I could not fault Truly Egypt Tours. The destinations we visited in each location, and the knowledge that each of the guides shared was absolutely amazing, it is a credit to the team to be able to display and deliver such passion for their heritage and culture. The transport was always clean and comfortable and always ran on time. The trains were comfortable although old but added to the adventure. The hotels were 5 star and faultless. The added cost of the hot air balloon in Luxor is a must do as it is the most magical experience and the extra trip to Abu Simbel, although long is magnificent. To the team at Truly Egypt tours, thank you for the most memorable week, and I would recommend this company and tour to anyone considering to visit Egypt.

What our customers ask about In-depth Cultural Tours & Trips in Egypt
When is the best time to take an In-depth Cultural tour in Egypt?
October through April offers the most suitable conditions for exploring Egypt's archaeological sites with temperatures ranging from 15-25°C (59-77°F). During these months visitors can spend more time at outdoor locations like the Valley of the Kings without being affected by intense heat. The weather proves particularly favorable for activities that require physical movement such as climbing Mount Sinai or walking through the bustling Khan el-Khalili bazaar in Cairo. According to frequent visitors the spring months of March and April provide ideal conditions for extended outdoor exploration.
What type of accommodation can I expect on an Egypt In-depth Cultural tour?
Most tours provide upscale accommodations split between city hotels and Nile cruise vessels. In Cairo expect 4-5 star properties like the Steigenberger El Tahrir or Jaz Pyramids Resort located near major attractions. The Nile portion typically features cruise ships such as MS Princess Sarah or Royal Esadora with well-appointed cabins river views and full amenities. Properties are selected based on their location service standards and ability to support the busy touring schedule.
What are the must-see cultural highlights included in Egypt In-depth Cultural tours?
Standard itineraries cover Egypt's most significant archaeological and historical sites. The journey typically starts in Cairo with the Pyramids of Giza and Egyptian Museum then continues south to Luxor's Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings before reaching Aswan's Philae Temple. Many tours also incorporate visits to lesser-known but historically significant locations like the Hanging Church in Old Cairo and the remote St. Catherine's Monastery at Mount Sinai base. Each site receives dedicated time with expert guides who provide historical context and cultural insights.
How much time is spent at each cultural site during the tours?
Major archaeological sites receive substantial time allocations. The Pyramids of Giza and Karnak Temple visits usually span 2-4 hours while the Egyptian Museum tours often take up to 4 hours for thorough exploration. Smaller sites like the Hanging Church typically get 1-2 hour visits. This scheduling allows visitors to fully appreciate each location's historical significance while maintaining a comfortable pace throughout the day.
What's included in terms of cultural experiences and meals on these tours?
Standard packages cover daily breakfast select local meals and cultural programs like Sufi dancing performances. Cultural activities range from guided market visits to demonstrations at traditional craft workshops. Many tours include entrance fees to major sites though certain special events like the Karnak Temple sound and light show (USD 45) come at additional cost. Local dining experiences such as meals with Nubian families often feature in the itineraries providing authentic cultural exchanges.
How much should I budget for entrance fees and additional costs on an Egypt In-depth Cultural tour?
Plan for USD 125-170 per person to cover entrance fees at archaeological sites and museums. Additional expenses include guide and service staff gratuities (USD 75-90 per person for the full tour) plus optional activities. US dollars are widely accepted and often preferred for these payments. Optional excursions like day trips to Abu Simbel require separate budgeting beyond the basic tour costs.
