6-Day China Tour from Beijing to Xi’an Highlights Private GuideOverall, this was a great tour and we were able to see and experience so much within a relatively short timeframe. I particularly enjoyed the small-group atmosphere, as it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other better and meant that everyone was able to help and look out for one another throughout the trip. Kevin and Celine were great tour guides. They were friendly, helpful and always willing to assist with anything we needed, which made travelling between the different destinations much easier. The accommodation throughout the tour was good, and I particularly enjoyed the breakfasts in Beijing and Xi’an. There were many memorable experiences. The Great Wall was amazing and definitely one of the highlights of the trip. I also loved the rickshaw ride and especially enjoyed being able to make my own Terracotta Warrior in Xi’an and take it home as a souvenir. It was a fun and unique experience that made the visit even more memorable. There are a few things I would change. I found the afternoon visit to the Shanghai Museum quite boring and would have preferred the option of returning to the hotel and having some free time instead. For the Shanghai river cruise, I think the tour price should include the additional 100 yuan required to sit on a chair on the top deck, as this is the best place to enjoy the views. At the Great Wall, I would have preferred taking the ski lift rather than the cable car, as this would have reduced the amount of walking required and added another enjoyable experience to the day. I also would have preferred to see a traditional lion dance rather than the acrobat show. A lion dance would have felt like a more culturally distinctive experience and something I would have really enjoyed seeing while visiting China.
8-Day Best China Tour: Luxury Small Group, No Shopping & All InclusiveHi! Here is my feedback on the tour. Overall, it was an amazing trip for my clients, very well organized and fully supported! On-site logistics were great, except for our arrival in Shanghai where the driver was an hour late and we got a different person instead of our guide. But that was just a one-off thing at the beginning; everything else was fine (I let Jennifer know!). The car transfers were super comfortable, and we loved the touch of having water and snacks ready. The guides were incredibly helpful, literally taking us by the hand to make sure we got on the right trains. They were so friendly, provided personalized service, and were always open to changes. It was awesome that we could choose the style of food and places for the included meals. Their English was good (some completely fluent!), and they used translators instantly if needed. They made us feel safe and never forced any activity. Also, the tour selection was perfect for a first taste of China, and ending early gave us free time to explore. Regarding hotels, they left a bit to be desired (about a 3.2/5 rating, haha), though most were okay except for the first one in Beijing. You should definitely take that one off the list! I want to give a special shoutout to Sunny in Xi'an and Abby in Zhangjiajie. They went way above and beyond! They helped me make payments (the system there is crazy), found medicine for me, booked extra tours, and even had meds delivered to our next stop so we didn't have to visit a hospital.
