Safari Tours & Trips in Asia
Could you picture safari in Asia rather than Africa? India's tigers, Sri Lanka's leopards and elephants, Borneo's orangutans and pygmy elephants. Asian safari offers completely different experiences, with denser jungles, different wildlife, varied cultures. You'll track animals through rainforests, stay in jungle lodges and discover why Asian wildlife experiences rival Africa's famous safaris.

A great way to experience of the natural beauty and culture of Sri Lanka. The itinerary was jam packed with activities, especially liked the hiking (sunrise/sunset). Part One (Colombo Airport to Nuwara Eliya) - My first five days of the tour was travelling solo with driver / guide Shanaka who made my trip so memorable. Shanaka has very good English and was able to change the itinerary to suit my needs and provide different experiences for me, such as a visit to the Negombo Botanical Gardens, a Sri Lankan cooking class, a night hike in jungle to see the elusive Loris, and a visit to the historic Nuwara Eliya Post Office. He is a wonderful guide and I enjoyed our time together so much. Please ask for him if you plan on an ASY Tour. The BEST experience was bathing an elephant at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, AMAZING. Part Two (Nuwara Eliya to Colombo) - I joined 2 other travellers and my new driver / guide Supun. Supun is a very considerate and knowledgeable guide, and if you are a 'nervous passenger' he is the safest driver in Sri Lanka IMO. The jeep safari in Yala National Park was a highlight. We saw many animals and birds including Leopards sleeping. Tangalle is great for a walk along the beach, and Galle Fort is very impressive. The south coast area is very beautiful and I could easily have stayed longer. The hotels were very good quality and generally exceeded my expectations. Communications with ASY Tours were very good and the organisation went like clockwork. I am glad I chose a local Sri Lankan tour company rather than a big global travel company as the Sri Lankan people get 100% benefit from my visit to their beautiful country.

What our customers ask about Safari Tours & Trips in Asia
What are the best times of year to visit national parks in Asia for optimal wildlife viewing?
Wildlife viewing in Asia's national parks reaches its prime from October to April during the dry season with mild temperatures. In Ranthambore National Park in India tigers are most visible from October to March. Yala National Park in Sri Lanka sees peak animal activity between February and July. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "Kanha was the best national park to visit. We saw numerous animals at each National Parks we visited." While shoulder seasons bring fewer visitors some parks close completely during heavy monsoon periods.
What wildlife species can I expect to see on an Indian safari?
The national parks of India host a rich collection of wildlife. Tigers leopards sloth bears and sambar deer roam freely in Ranthambore Bandhavgarh and Kanha parks along with more than 300 species of birds. Visitors to Kaziranga National Park can spot one-horned rhinoceros and wild elephant herds. A TourRadar traveler notes from Kanha: "The park has a significant population of Royal Bengal tigers Indian leopards sloth bears and an amazing variety of bird species that we got to see during our safari drives."
What types of accommodation can I expect on safari tours in India?
Safari lodging in India spans from basic tented camps to high-end luxury lodges. Bandhavgarh National Park offers premium options like Kings Lodge and Samode Safari Lodge alongside mid-range choices such as Tiger Trails Resort. Near Kanha National Park visitors can choose between upscale Kanha Earth Lodge or the comfortable mid-tier Infinity Kanha Wilderness. A TourRadar traveler reports: "The accommodations were excellent we especially appreciate the attentiveness of the staff at our stays in the national parks."
How many safari game drives are typically included on a multi-day tour?
Standard multi-day safari packages include 2-3 daily wildlife drives per location scheduled during prime animal viewing hours in early morning and late afternoon. The Tiger & Tales tour features 3 safaris at Kanha and 2 at Bandhavgarh. Corbett National Park typically schedules 2 jeep excursions per day. According to a TourRadar traveler: "We had multiple safari opportunities each day which really increased our chances of spotting tigers and other wildlife."
What should I pack for a wildlife safari tour in India?
A well-planned safari wardrobe includes neutral-colored clothing comfortable walking shoes sun protection gear binoculars and a camera with zoom capabilities. Winter safaris (November-February) in parks like Corbett and Kanha require warm layers for chilly morning drives. Summer visitors to parks such as Ranthambore should pack light cotton clothing as temperatures can reach 40°C/104°F.
Are the safari vehicles comfortable and what is the seating arrangement?
Safari tours use open-top 4x4 Jeep Gypsys designed to carry 6-8 passengers. Parks like Corbett and Bandhavgarh feature vehicles specifically adapted for wildlife photography with raised seating positions. A TourRadar traveler shares: "The safari vehicles were comfortable with good viewing angles and our naturalist ensured everyone got good photography opportunities."
