A great trip that pulls together the highlights of each country - perfect for a nervous solo traveller such as myself. The best part of this trip has to be the group members and group leaders - Emma Poore, our Thailand group leader and Logan Simon’s for Cambodia were absolutely incredible and I can’t put into words how much better they make an already incredible trip. They’re the perfect balance of supporting, guiding and fun and energetic. An absolute credit to Intro!
Epic AsiaIt was truly the trip of a lifetime! Combining these two destinations provided the perfect balance of fast-paced adventure and total, blissful relaxation. The first leg of our trip in Sri Lanka was packed with incredible culture, history, and wildlife. Climbing the majestic Sigiriya Rock Fortress at sunrise was unforgettable, as was seeing elephants up close during a safari in Minneriya National Park. Our private driver/guide was an absolute gem—extremely professional, knowledgeable, and always ensuring we safely navigated the winding roads while stopping to show us hidden local spots. The hospitality at every hotel we visited was warm and genuinely welcoming.Just as the busy itinerary started to catch up with us, we took the quick 90-minute flight over to the Maldives to unwind. It was pure paradise. The crystal-clear turquoise waters, overwater bungalows, and vibrant marine life exceeded all expectations. We spent our days snorkeling with sea turtles and reef sharks right off the beach. The entire tour was flawlessly organized from start to finish. Transfers were seamless, the accommodations were top-notch, and the itinerary was brilliantly paced. If you are debating booking this tour, just do it—you will not regret it!
The best of Sri Lanka with Adventurous and deluxe MaldivesWe are just finishing our Best of Sri Lanka and Maldives tour. The Sri Lanka itinerary was perfect. We saw and experienced so many things: stunning temples, majestic scenery, a beautiful beach, an old Dutch fort, etc. But it was our guide, Sasika who made the trip spectacular. I didn’t expect the tour to be just my husband and myself but it worked out great. Sasika was very easy going and fun to be around. He was always generous with advice and recommendations (and he found the best restaurants). He was always there for us, which really made our time in Sri Lanka great. The Maldives was beautiful. The flight was fine and we met up with the representative easily but to be honest, the hotel, Kaani Grand Seaview, was only ok. It would have been great if we were in our 20s but not so much when you are in your 70s. The people were nice, the beach was across the street, but the air conditioning just couldn’t handle the hot and humid weather (the maintenance person checked it and it got alittle better but it was never comfortable in the room). And because we had an early flight (9:40 am) and the hotel’s earliest transfer was 8 am, we were going to have to pay for our own speed boat transfer so we just moved to a hotel near the airport for the last night. Great hotel with working air conditioning- pure bliss. There was a beach also across the street and In truth, Hulhumale was more interesting to walk around than Maafushi. But I do highly recommend this tour company, especially for tours in Sri Lanka. They were very quick to respond to any question I had prior to arriving and Sasika followed up on any question once we were on the tour. I would definitely use them again.

What our customers ask about Island Hopping Tours & Trips in Asia
What are the must-visit islands and highlights during an Asia Island Hopping tour?
Asia's island destinations offer distinct experiences across multiple regions. The Palawan area of the Philippines draws visitors to El Nido's clear lagoons and white sand beaches while Indonesia's Gili Islands provide easy access to coral reefs. The Maldives stands out for its marine life and overwater accommodations. Notable stops include Kayangan Lake in Coron which TourRadar travelers call "the cleanest lake in the Philippines." On Maafushi Island in the Maldives snorkeling directly from the beach reveals abundant sea life. Properties like Stingray Beach Inn and Shallow Lagoon Resort serve as convenient bases for daily island exploration.
What kind of accommodation can I expect on an Asia island hopping tour?
Lodging options range from basic beachfront bungalows to upscale resorts that cater to different budgets and preferences. The Philippines features properties like the Cliff Resort in Mui Ne and Red Coconut Beach Resort along Boracay's shoreline. In the Maldives guests can choose from hotels like the Stingray Beach Inn on Maafushi Island or Planktons Beach Hotel in Hulhumale. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The Shallow Lagoon Rasdhoo offered stunning ocean views and was perfectly located for daily island hopping excursions."
How many islands can I typically visit during an Asia island hopping tour?
Standard 7-10 day itineraries usually cover 4-8 islands. Philippine tours often connect major destinations like Boracay Cebu El Nido and Coron. Maldives routes frequently link Maafushi Guraidhoo and Gulhi islands. According to a TourRadar traveler: "During our 13-day Philippines tour we visited multiple islands from Boracay to El Nido each offering unique experiences from pristine beaches to incredible snorkeling spots."
How much island hopping time versus cultural activities should I expect?
Tours typically dedicate about 70% to water and beach activities with 30% focused on cultural experiences. Feel Free Travel's 9-day Thailand program shows this balance with 6 days exploring Koh Phi Phi and Railay Beach plus cultural visits to Bangkok temples and markets. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The perfect mix of beach time snorkeling and authentic Thai experiences made this trip unforgettable."
When is the best time to go island hopping in Asia?
Peak conditions vary by location but November through April offers the most reliable weather with calmer seas and less rain across most regions. The Gili Islands see excellent snorkeling visibility from March to May particularly at Manta Point and Turtle Point. TourRadar travelers report "crystal clear waters and perfect weather made snorkeling incredible during April." Thailand's Koh Tao tends to have its calmest seas from July through September making island transfers more comfortable.
How do we travel between islands?
Island transfers use a mix of transportation depending on distance and location. Thailand's Andaman Sea routes typically use speedboats between Phi Phi Islands and Phuket while the Maldives relies on public ferries to connect islands like Dhiffushi and Thulusdhoo. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The boat transfers were well-organized and comfortable with amazing views between islands."
