We really enjoyed this tour! The stops they picked were great. We liked the hotels (Ikala in Quito and Isla Hotel & Spa in Baños); they were clean and comfortable. We had different tour guides throughout this group. A group trip in a van with Joel as our guide to Otavalo; a private city tour with Alexis; and 4 days with Erick. Both Erick and Alexis went above and beyond to answer questions, take us to see what we were interested in, and advocating for us. Alexis even extended our city tour to show us one additional thing we requested and dropped us off at the gondola for our afternoon activity on our own. All 3 guides spoke great English and we had no communication issues with them. They were very knowledgeable about the country and culture and did a great job explaining everything to us. Erick also did a great job interacting with my child and keeping her entertained and included. The tour was private (just the 3 of us) except for the one day in Otavalo. On the private days we were in our guide's vehicles. Both Alexis and Erick had nice and clean cars and we felt safe. The van that was used for the day trip to Otavalo was clean but could have used AC. It got very hot in there and due to the poor air quality we could not really open the windows. The driver that day was not great; which became very obvious by the amount of people honking at him. Overall, it was a nice mix of nature, culture, city, and shopping (markets). We would book with this company again. We also enjoyed working with Daniela at the office; she was responsive to questions and helpful.

Best time to visit Ecuador
- Summer 2026
Summer tours blend physical challenges with local culture across Ecuador's regions. You start in the Andes at South America's biggest indigenous market in Otavalo before heading to the deep blue Quilotoa crater lake. The path winds through Baos where you'll cycle past waterfalls, try the "End of the World" swing and soak in hot springs. In the Amazon, you'll tackle white-water rapids on the Jatunyacu River, look for night creatures on jungle walks and learn traditional plant medicine from indigenous guides. Our travelers tell us they love how these routes mix hiking, cycling and also cultural experiences all in one trip.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn works well for exploring high mountains and coastal areas both. Active tours combine horse rides near snowy volcanoes, downhill biking on jungle paths and kayaking in wildlife spots. You'll visit artists' workshops in the Andes, learn chocolate making from local experts and spot countless birds in misty forests. Our guests often mention how they love the variety - hiking volcanic trails one day, swimming with sea turtles the next and also learning at wildlife breeding centers.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter brings out the best of the Galapagos from December through May with warmer seas and great visibility. Our multi-island tours let you snorkel at Kicker Rock where hammerhead sharks glide by in the clear waters. You'll spot nesting frigates, swim with curious sea lions and also watch blue-footed boobies hunting for fish. The volcanic walks take you through lava tunnels and up Sierra Negra, which happens to be the world's second largest volcanic crater. When you stay island-based, there's time to kayak Las Tintoreras, see giant tortoises roaming their highland homes and also visit the Charles Darwin Research Station.

- Spring 2027
Spring sets up perfect timing to mix mainland Ecuador with Galapagos exploration. Most routes kick off in Quito's old town then head to Cotopaxi National Park where you ride horses with local cowboys and walk around glacier-fed lakes. Once in the islands, you'll snorkel quiet coves with green sea turtles, find Galapagos penguins and walk up to spots like Frigatebird Hill. Our guests really enjoy cooking classes where they make traditional encebollado with fresh tuna and meeting local communities to learn about sugar cane farming and also traditional agriculture.
