We had a wonderful week in South West Ireland thanks to our guide from Wild n Happy Diarmuid! As we had such a small group we were able to go to more places and see more wonderful sights. Diarmuid’s knowledge of the area and history was fantastic and gave us a really good understanding of what we were seeing. What Local Experiences Can You Really Get Into Along the West Coast?
The traditional music scene is absolutely buzzing especially in places like Doolin Dingle and Galway. If you're in Dingle you've got to check out Dick Mac's - it's this amazing leather shop that turns into a proper Irish pub or pop into Foxy John's where you can literally buy hardware while enjoying a pint! The sheepdog demonstrations are incredible too particularly at West Kerry Sheepdog where you'll see these brilliant border collies at work. Want to really connect with the locals? Learn a few Gaelic phrases especially if you're heading to the Aran Islands or Dingle Peninsula. Inis Oirr the smallest of the Aran Islands feels like stepping back in time and gives you that authentic Gaelic experience you're after.
What About Those Natural Areas Away From the Cities?
You've got these amazing spots like Connemara National Park where mountains lakes and boglands create this incredible landscape perfect for hiking cycling or heading out on horseback.
