What an experience sailing around the beautiful scenery that Croatia has to offer. From Kayaking around the Dubrovnik coastline, partying until the early hours in a club just off the beach to taking in the majesty of the Krka Waterfalls there is plenty of great experiences to suit a variety of travellers. Lead fantastically by team leader Becca who’s passion for the tour and sights was matched only by her infectious enthusiasm to make sure everyone was always having a great time. Couldn’t recommend higher.

Best tour companies for Dalmatia tours
Local customers consistently praise Laganini Tours for cycling trips through Dalmatia, with particular love for owner Tonci who knows every hidden corner of the region and makes sure you're staying in quality hotels and eating excellent meals. If you need a more budget-conscious choice, G Adventures runs a great sailing route from Dubrovnik to Split - their skipper Marin gets lots of mentions from our travelers for sharing fascinating local stories and finding those special spots most tourists miss. Intro Travel's Croatia Sail Adventure is another solid pick, especially if you want a well-planned itinerary. Tour leader Anna gets glowing feedback for making everyone feel part of the group and helping create genuine Croatian experiences. For those interested in a proper cruise, Katarina Line stands out - their ships are well-maintained and the crew runs a tight ship, quite literally. Nature Trips delivers good experiences too, though some of our clients mention occasional schedule mix-ups, but they say the overall journey more than makes up for any small hiccups. These companies really understand what makes Croatia special - they'll get you to the right places and introduce you to local culture without making it feel too touristy or rushed. The guides take pride in showing you their home country, and it shows in how they work.

- Spring 2026
Spring cycling along the Dalmatian coast really comes into its own during May when the temperature hits that sweet spot for longer rides. Our cyclists love following old Roman roads on Hvar before heading down quiet coastal routes to Jelsa. If you prefer a gentler pace, our sailing tours connect Split to Dubrovnik with plenty of quiet bays for swimming stops along the way. The spring months are perfect for diving into culture too - you'll find fewer people at UNESCO sites like Diocletian's Palace and Korčula's old town, giving you space to really explore. Walking tours blend city visits with national parks, and Plitvice Lakes puts on quite a show in spring when the waterfalls run full force. For cyclists looking for a challenge, we've got support vehicles backing up those uphill climbs, so you can tackle those viewpoints at whatever pace works for you.

Summer opens up our widest range of coastal experiences. Our island-hopping boats make daily swimming stops in clear blue bays and visit beaches like Zlatni Rat. Travelers tell us they love mixing cultural visits to Split, Hvar and also Korčula with refreshing dips away from busy harbors. Active tours start with morning activities then ease into afternoon relaxation - you might cycle through Pelješac's wine country then cool off at secluded beaches. Families based on Lopud Island get a nice mix of kayaking, swimming and guided walks plus plenty of beach time. Young adult tours hit that perfect balance between culture and social life, from exploring Dubrovnik's walls during the day to catching sunset drinks at beach bars in the evening.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall brings some of our most popular tours, with fewer tourists around but sea temperatures staying warm enough for swimming right through October. It's an excellent time for cultural visits - you can really take your time at Diocletian's Palace or walk Dubrovnik's walls without the summer crowds. Wine tours work especially well now, timing visits with grape harvests on Hvar and also Korčula. Cyclists appreciate the cooler weather for longer rides through olive groves and coastal roads. Our island-hopping cruises keep running through autumn, and guests often mention how nice it is having places like Mljet's salt lakes more to themselves. The mix of good weather, smaller groups and local harvest festivals creates perfect conditions for making real connections with local culture.

What local traditions can you join in on when visiting Dalmatia?
You can really get hands-on with Dalmatian culture especially on Korčula island where local families will teach you how to make Zrnovo Makaruni - it's this amazing hand-rolled pasta they've been making for generations. The best part is you'll learn right in a traditional Konoba that's like a cozy tavern in Zrnovo village where you can soak up authentic hospitality. If you're joining the Explore Croatia tour you'll get to enjoy a proper Dalmatian meat loaf dinner at a family restaurant in Zrnovo it's such a genuine local experience.
What natural spots should I check out away from the cities?
The natural wonders in Dalmatia are absolutely stunning with Plitvice Lakes and Krka National Parks leading the way. Plitvice is actually UNESCO listed and you've got to see those turquoise lakes and waterfalls - there are marked trails everywhere and boat rides to help you explore. From Split you can catch boat tours to Krka which has these incredible waterfalls. Over on Mljet island the National Park is perfect for biking or kayaking around salt lakes and hidden coves. The Explore Croatia tour makes sure you get to experience Krka's beauty firsthand.
Where can I go to avoid the crowds but still see something special?
You'll love Vis island it used to be a military base but now it's this wonderfully secluded spot with untouched landscapes and authentic villages. You can wander through Vis Town and Komiža or hike up Mt. Hum for amazing views. If you're looking to skip the Dubrovnik crowds head to Ston on the Pelješac Peninsula - the walls are incredible and the oysters are even better. Šipan island is perfect for cycling through gorgeous scenery visiting the 14th-century Saint Spirit church and enjoying dinner at a family tavern in Šipanska Luka. The Explore Croatia tour actually takes you to peaceful Lopud island where you can really unwind away from the crowds.
How do I get around Dalmatia?
Getting around Dalmatia is pretty straightforward with ferries being your main way to hop between islands and the mainland. You'll find regular daily services especially in peak season connecting major spots like Split and Dubrovnik to islands like Hvar Brač and Korčula. If you're in a hurry hydrofoils are great for faster trips between certain islands. On the bigger islands local buses will get you around to different towns and if you're feeling fancy private boat tours are perfect for discovering those hidden spots. The Croatia Island Hopping tour uses both ferries and hydrofoils so you'll get to experience the typical way locals travel.
What local food should I definitely try and where's the best place to find it?
Dalmatian food is incredible - in Split you've got to try the fresh octopus salad or Soparnik this amazing silverbeet pie you'll find in local markets. Over on Brač Island make sure to taste Hrapočuša a special protected heritage cake from Dol. The oysters on Pelješac Peninsula are absolutely fresh and amazing especially in Ston's waterfront restaurants. Throughout the region you'll find Pašticada a slow-cooked wine-marinated beef stew and Brudet a delicious fish stew in traditional Konobas. Don't forget to pair everything with local wines like Grk from Korčula or Plavac Mali from Pelješac. The Croatia Island Hopping tour takes you to this lovely family farm in Korčula where you can taste everything from local cheeses to homemade preserves.
