The guides were excellent and provided wealth of knowledge and experience. I was particularly worried being solo female tourist with dietary needs (vegetarian/pestcatarian). I felt safe and well catered for and had such an amazing holiday. Thank you for the wonderful experience ??

Global Connect was an amazing find for us. You might think you don’t need a tour operator, but when something goes wrong in a country where you don’t share a first language, you realize how valuable that support really is. My cousin misplaced her passport, and Global Connect was outstanding in how they jumped in to help. Any time we were confused or had a question, we had true 24/7 support. They were always available on WhatsApp and responded immediately. This is a semi-guided tour, so you will still take local trains and move between cities on your own sometimes — but we actually enjoyed that. It gave us a more authentic experience of local transport while still having a safety net. All the drivers Global Connect arranged were on time (early, even). We never had to wait for anyone. A couple practical notes: • The times in the itinerary are indicative, not exact. For example, our flight from Tashkent left an hour earlier than expected. • Build in flexibility. It’s worth it. The overall itinerary was perfect for what we wanted, and the local operators were excellent. Special mention to the woman who supported us in Samarkand — she was wonderful. If you have extra time in Samarkand, don’t miss the evening light show at Registan Square. It’s free, it’s beautiful, and it’s absolutely worth seeing. I also recommend putting together a short list of restaurants in advance so you can try local food. The guides are great at suggesting where to eat, where to shop, and what extra activities to add. Thank you, Global Connect, for an awesome trip. You were wonderful from start to finish.

This was an excellent and very professionally run tour from start to finish. The hotels that were booked exceeded our expectations. We had a stunning view or the Registan from our hotel in Samarkand, and the Khiva hotel was a converted madrassa. Bek went out of his way to accommodate everybody's need. The guides and drivers were unfailingly friendly and reliable. Many thanks to our driver Abdul (?), and to the wonderful guides, Marabou, Ezoz, Lola and Ana. We learnt so much. Uzbekistan was spectacular.

Tashkent works as the main starting point for 64% of our Uzbek tours, though some travelers begin in Bukhara, Samarkand and also other cities. Looking at our booking patterns, you'll want to lock in your trip about 70 days before heading out - especially if you're traveling in spring or autumn when the weather's just right and cultural festivals are in full swing. The sweet spot for visiting falls between April and June or September through November, when you get mild temperatures and lots of local events. Getting around is straightforward now with the high-speed trains linking the major stops. Our solo travelers consistently tell us they feel comfortable exploring on their own, though knowing some basic Russian helps when you're away from the main tourist spots. What catches many visitors off guard is how Tashkent mixes old-world charm with modern city life and also new infrastructure.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Uzbekistan feels wonderfully quiet in winter, making it perfect for exploring ancient cities without tourist crowds. Our cultural tours run 3-7 days and focus on indoor activities along key Silk Road stops. You'll discover the beautiful metro station interiors in Tashkent, relax in Bukhara's traditional hammams and join local families to learn their cooking secrets. Travelers really appreciate the converted merchant houses and boutique hotels during cold months - especially the historic Jewish houses in Bukhara with their authentic décor and reliable central heating. The shorter winter routes connect major cities by high-speed train, while longer trips include visits to Nukus's Savitsky Museum where you'll find an incredible collection of avant-garde Soviet art.

- Spring 2026
Spring hits the sweet spot for Uzbekistan tours with perfect temperatures for exploring. Our most popular routes run 8-10 days, covering major cities and adding special touches like nights in desert yurt camps. The spring festivals in Bukhara are a real highlight, and travelers love visiting ceramic workshops in Gijduvan and also spending time with families in the Nuratau Mountains. For something extra special, our premium tours include rooftop champagne at sunset in Khiva, traditional plov cooking with local families and private visits to silk carpet workshops. Many spring routes take you to mountain villages where you'll learn tandir bread baking and see daily village life up close.

- Summer 2026
Summer tours work with the warm weather by scheduling early morning visits and evening cultural events. The popular 7-10 day routes include cooling swims at Lake Aidarkul and visits to the summer palace of Bukhara's last emir. Days mix city exploration with indoor activities - mornings in Samarkand's covered bazaars, afternoons learning traditional crafts in air-conditioned workshops and also evenings watching folklore shows in historic courtyards. Many summer trips include stays in cooler mountain villages and nights in desert yurt camps where traditional music under starlit skies creates unforgettable moments.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall creates ideal conditions for discovering both cities and countryside in Uzbekistan. Our top autumn tours span 8-14 days, blending UNESCO sites with seasonal activities. You'll visit paper workshops in Konigil when mulberry trees turn golden, explore Samarkand's lanes without summer heat and join families during their fall harvest. The premium routes include wine tasting at Bagizagan vineyard, time with master weavers in silk workshops and also special access to restoration work in Bukhara's historic Jewish quarter. Photographers particularly love the autumn light on ancient city walls in Khiva and also Bukhara. From what our travelers tell us, you've got four solid options for Central Asian tours, each with their own strengths and quirks. Zamin Travel gets lots of positive mentions for having really well-planned routes, and their German-speaking guides are particularly good - that's a big plus if you're looking for tours in German. GLOBAL CONNECT is the go-to choice if you want something built just for you. They're particularly strong with cultural immersion, and they pay attention to all those small details that make a trip feel special. Their guides work hard to help you really understand local life, traditions and also customs. Steppe Journeys has earned quite a reputation for running smooth operations. Two of their guides, Odil and Bek, keep getting mentioned by name in reviews - they're known for planning everything down to the last detail. That kind of consistency really shows in how their trips run. TourRadar customers who booked with Zamin Travel loved their guides' knowledge, but some mentioned hiccups with day-to-day communication about schedules and meeting points. It's worth noting this because while the actual touring is great, you might need to be a bit proactive about checking logistics. Each of these companies has its sweet spot - it really depends on whether you're after a German-speaking experience, want something totally customized, need everything planned perfectly or prefer to go with a larger platform like TourRadar.
