I liked the itinerary—we covered most of the major sights. The tour guide was knowledgeable and punctual. The only issue I had was that he made several negative comments about different groups of people. First, he said that the Rapa Nui people don’t like outsiders coming to Easter Island. That made me very uncomfortable, especially since I am also an outsider. Considering that tourism is a source of income for the Rapa Nui people, that comment felt unkind. Second, he mentioned multiple times that Rapa Nui people don’t like Chinese people. Although I may have made similar observations, I would not share them with anyone except those very close to me. Those kinds of comments should not be shared with clients. Hearing this repeatedly made me wonder what he might be saying about other groups, including Americans or Filipinos (I am a U.S. citizen of Filipino heritage). Third, he made negative comments about the owner of one of the restaurants I visited. He mentioned that they do not like the owner, and I don’t understand why he would share that with me. Finally, he also made a comment about a French company—I believe it was an oil company—but the context was unclear. Overall, these types of remarks are inappropriate to make to a client. They felt rude and unprofessional.
5 Days Magical Easter Island - J

We have just returned from the 7 day Mystical Easter Island trip and how apt the name! Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides shared the known history of their island, and the colourful tales in equal measure. The tour covered all the main Moai sites, quarries, calders, the highest point on the island and snorkelling, not forgetting the unmissable cultural show . There was free time to explore the beaches and shopping in Hanga Roa too. Due to a number of factors the itinerary had to be fluid but our trip organiser Pamela was absolutely on top of everything and ensured we missed nothing. It was a once in a lifetime experience and a tour we would happily recommend.

I did not realise when I booked the tour that the tour operator is a destination management company - not a fully guided tour operator. Basically, you get yourself to the three places and the company arranges tours for you on different days. As a solo senior woman traveller, this was not the best choice for me although the contact, Ale, was great and everything was well organised. The company also seemed to have a good reputation and local guides often went the extra mile. The issue was that there were basically tours everyday and some days 2 on one day. This was too much for me as I like to have breaks and wonder around on my own. Also all the tours used minivans and these were usually full up. It was very uncomfortable in these vans in such circumstances - especially if you were in the back part of the van and the seat had obstructions on the floor and you had to sit sideways for hours on end. I ended up having to cancel at least three daily tours to recover. I note that the tours in Atacama were a bit rough and ready with guides basically giving up on English translations as the majority of the passengers spoke Spanish, though some said they would describe things later to me which they did. Having said all that, the scenery and experience was incredible with each place offering something different - from bustling Santiago, to the colourful graffitied houses on the hills of Valparaiso, to the salt lagoons and dunes of the Atacama desert and lastly to the forests and mountain lakes of Puerto Varas.

Best time to visit Chile
- Summer 2026
Summer brings long daylight hours to Patagonia from December through February, perfect for making the most of our full circuit treks. The Torres del Paine routes take you through old-growth forests, to starlit camping spots and over the challenging John Garner Pass - the views of the Southern Ice Field seem endless from up there. The W Trek variations are proving really popular; you can spend extra time in the French Valley watching massive chunks of ice crash down from the hanging glaciers. Around Santiago and the Lake District, we've got tours mixing winery visits with outdoor activities like boat trips on Todos Los Santos Lake with volcanoes rising all around. The Atacama tours run year-round, though summer nights are warmer for those incredible stargazing sessions under the world's clearest skies.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall transforms Chile's landscapes from March through May. The lenga forests in Patagonia turn deep red and gold, giving our O Circuit treks a completely different character. Our guides time the tough sections like Paso John Garner carefully to hit the best weather windows. The W Trek is getting more popular in autumn since the winds calm down and you get these incredible photo opportunities with the changing colors. Our Epic Patagonia tours work really well now - you can do glacier hikes and spot wildlife with fewer people around. Up in Atacama, the desert tours benefit from mild temperatures that are perfect for long walks through Moon Valley and visits to high-altitude lagoons where flamingos gather before winter sets in.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
The Torres del Paine 'O' Circuit really comes into its own during winter months June through August - you'll find fewer people on the trails and raw, pristine landscapes. Our 8-day route takes you across 50-meter suspension bridges over Grey Glacier and to camp spots right beside Dickson Glacier. The guides are brilliant at pointing out Magellanic woodpeckers in the lenga forests. Winter also brings perfect conditions to San Pedro de Atacama, where night skies are at their clearest. You can spot nebulae, star clusters and distant galaxies through professional telescopes. Many of our clients combine both regions in winter, starting in Santiago's wine valleys before heading south to trek the French Valley and finally north to catch the Tatio Geysers steaming in the dawn light.
