Austria Tours & Trips
Austria is a fantastic destination year-round. In winter, hit the slopes in the Alps and sip mulled wine at Vienna’s magical Christmas markets. The capital is a must in other seasons, too: visit Schönbrunn, the Belvedere, and historic cafés like Central. Salzburg boasts pastel-colored houses and a hilltop-perching fortress. Add the idyllic village of Hallstatt, embraced by mountains, to your list.

The tour was well organized and it was easy to reach out to the team at Wise Yatra with questions during the trip. I would recommend this tour and company!

It was my first time trekking self guided, and I was lost in so many informations, but in a couple of days, got my confidence back and everything went well. The Wolfgangsee is impressive!!! So was Hallstad from the other side of the lake. Once in the vilage no so great, with lots of small tents, selling everything. The food in every town was great. Bad Ichl is wonderful. Good idea to stay there for a rest day. I totally recomend this tripé. Gustavo
Austrain Lakes Tour Salzkammergut - S

Generally great trip BUT we were not clearly I forged if an important meeting with Eurobike on the first evening of the tour. This was vital information that was not clearly given to us. Also, it was not clearly relayed to us that we needed to bring our own helmets even though we rented bikes. Eurobike claims that the meeting information and helmet info was to be given to us by Tour Radar. Disappointed that neither Tour Radar nor Eurobike told us of the 6pm meeting on our first nite of tour. Very very important meeting that we needed to know about!!

- Spring 2026
Spring tours through Austria's Wachau Valley blend vineyard walks with riverside perspectives. Our TourRadar customers appreciate how these routes take them through apricot orchards in full bloom, and up to viewpoints like Seekopf where you can see all the way to the Alps on clear spring days. The heritage trails connect cultural highlights with natural wonders - you'll walk from monastery Göttweig to Dürnstein's castle ruins, then take scenic ferries across the Danube to explore Austria's largest apricot growing region. Many travelers choose Vienna-based spring itineraries that combine city exploration with countryside day trips, particularly enjoying how the Danube Valley excursions let them see medieval towns like Krems and Dürnstein coming alive after winter. The routes through Salzkammergut work especially well in spring with moderate daily walks of 12-16 kilometers, linking historic spots like Bad Ischl with lakeside paths where you can watch winter's last snow melting off the peaks.

- Summer 2026
The Austrian Alps come alive in summer with hiking routes for every fitness level. The Dachstein Circuit offers daily walks between 10 and 22km, connecting alpine meadows with glacier viewpoints. What makes these tours special is the mix of accommodations - you'll spend some nights up in mountain huts with amazing views and others down in comfortable valley hotels where your main bags are waiting. Around Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut, the lake tours let you cool off with swimming breaks between walks. You can visit cultural spots like the imperial villa at Bad Ischl and natural highlights including the Five Fingers viewing platform. The summer cards that come with many tours give you free cable car rides and boat trips, which helps keep the overall cost down.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn hiking through Austria's lake district blends comfortable temperatures with quieter trails, where you can walk 10-22km each day between alpine meadows and cultural sites. The Dachstein Circuit and Salzkammergut paths connect glacier views with historic landmarks, and the seasonal timing means you'll avoid peak season crowds. Around Bad Ischl and Lake Wolfgang, you can follow Emperor Franz Joseph's former riding paths, cross hanging bridges above Lake Hallstatt, and explore at an unhurried pace. TourRadar customers mention the special quality of autumn light on the lakes, particularly during morning walks from Weissenbach to Bad Goisern along the Bear trail. The marked paths through Koppen valley and around Lake Wolfgangsee offer perfect conditions, with stops at Koppenbruellerhoehle Cave and strategic ferry rides between treks. For those seeking technical challenges, the Schladminger Glacier routes demand hiking poles to navigate scree fields and rocky sections under crisp autumn skies.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
The winter magic really comes alive in Austria from late November through December when Christmas markets pop up across the cities. You can join tours linking Vienna, Salzburg and Budapest to get the full festive experience. Vienna itself has 11 different markets scattered through the city center - our customers usually start at the big one in front of City Hall before discovering the smaller, more intimate settings at Schönbrunn Palace and Belvedere. Many tours include classical concerts where Mozart and Bach echo through baroque churches, while some feature the elegant white stallions at the Spanish Riding School. After exploring the markets, you can warm up in Budapest's thermal baths which makes for a cozy end to these winter routes.
