What people love about Christmas & New Year Tours in Andalucia
- Best of Southern Spain
The small group size of 8 really helped to gel the group.
- 6-Day Andalucia & Toledo from Madrid
Maria, our guide, was outstanding! She was kind, funny and always helpful. The other guides we had were also very good. The trip was well organized and we were very active. At the end of the day my wife and I were exhausted. And very satisfied with our daily activities. The accommodations were good, mostly outside the city center, which was fine with us. The food provided was very good. We were well-fed. We attended both flamenco performances. Both were excellent, but if you chose only one, attend the show in Granada. Quite the experience!
- Madrid to Andalusia, Self-drive
I think more days in Granada would be good but overall the trip was fantastic. The hotels were far from the city center and would have preferred more of a central location.
What our customers ask about Christmas & New Year Tours & Trips in Andalucia
What special Christmas and New Year festivities can I experience in Andalucia?
The holiday season in Andalucia brings a blend of religious tradition and modern celebration. The Santa Cruz quarter in Seville showcases detailed nativity scenes called Belenes while Granada's Albayzin district transforms into a traditional Christmas market. The Plaza de la Constitución in Malaga becomes the center of New Year's festivities. Hotels like the Melia Lebreros in Seville host holiday gala dinners. The narrow streets light up with decorative displays creating what one TourRadar traveler called "magical traditional celebrations in Seville's old town."
What is the weather like in Andalucia during Christmas and New Year?
Winter in Andalucia offers comfortable temperatures for exploring. Coastal areas like Malaga and Marbella see daily temperatures of 15-18°C (59-64°F). Inland cities such as Granada cool down to 10-12°C (50-54°F). The Sol Principe Hotel in Torremolinos provides views of the winter Mediterranean. As noted by a TourRadar traveler: "The weather was perfect for sightseeing - cool enough to walk comfortably but still sunny enough to enjoy outdoor cafes and plazas during the holiday season."
What are the must-visit Christmas markets in Andalucia?
The region's holiday markets each offer distinct local character. Granada hosts the sweet-focused Bib-Rambsweets while Seville's Feria del Belén specializes in nativity figures. Malaga's market lines the popular Calle Larios. The NH Gran Hotel in Granada serves as a convenient base for market exploration. According to a TourRadar traveler: "The traditional Christmas market in Granada's historic center was a highlight with amazing local handicrafts and festive treats."
Which Andalucian cities offer the best Christmas decorations and light displays?
The region's cities compete for the most impressive holiday displays. Malaga's Calle Larios features a synchronized light and music show while Granada decks its historic center with traditional decorations near the Cathedral. One TourRadar traveler noted: "Malaga's Christmas lights were absolutely breathtaking creating a magical atmosphere throughout the entire city center."
Are attractions and sites open during Christmas and New Year in Andalucia?
Major sites maintain operations with adjusted schedules during the holidays. The Alhambra in Granada and Seville's Cathedral welcome visitors though hours change on December 24 31 and have limited openings on December 25 and January 1. The Saray Hotel in Granada provides convenient access to key attractions. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Despite the holiday season we could visit all major sites just needed to plan around the special holiday hours."
How do Andalucians celebrate New Year's Eve?
